Book Tracker Privacy Policy
Last updated: 07/21/2026
1. Overview
Book Tracker ("the app") is a personal book collection management app.
This policy explains what information the app collects and how it is used.
2. Data Storage
All book collection data you enter (titles, authors, notes, etc.) is stored
locally on your device using AES-256 encrypted storage (SQLCipher). This data
is not transmitted to or stored on any servers we control.
3. Camera Usage
The app uses your device's camera solely to scan book barcodes (ISBNs).
No images are stored or transmitted.
4. Third-Party APIs
When you scan or search for a book, the ISBN is sent to Open Library and/or
Google Books API to retrieve book information (title, author, cover image,
etc.). These requests are subject to the respective privacy policies of
Open Library and Google.
5. Advertising
This app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device
identifiers (such as the advertising ID), general location, and usage data
to serve and measure ads, and may use this data for ad personalization in
accordance with your device's ad settings. See Google's Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
6. Analytics & Crash Reporting
This app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to
understand app usage and diagnose crashes. These services may collect
device information, app usage events, and crash logs, processed by Google
in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
7. Data Security
Your book collection is stored using AES-256 encryption. The encryption
key is stored securely in your device's Android Keystore, providing
hardware-backed protection where supported.
8. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on
this page with an updated revision date.
