All Information About Tadoba (Updated Monthly)

Question: What is Tadoba?

Answer: Tadoba is one of the 54 Tiger Reserves in India. It is situated in Vidarbha region of eastern Maharashtra. It is very old Natural Habitat of Royal Bengal Tigers in wild. You can experience the Tiger in the Forest of Tadoba Tiger Reserve. The Forest is protected by Government of India. The Jungle is spread across 3,750 sqkm and it has 23 Gates to enter for the Jungle Safaris. Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the largest Tiger Reserve in India. It lies in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state. This beautiful wild paradise is situated 30 km close to Chandrapur City and is about 155 km from Nagpur City. Naghpur is also the nearest airport for visiting Tadoba Tiger Reserve. Its name 'Tadoba' is derived from the name of local Gond King "Tadoba" or "Taru Ba" (Like Ajoba) which is praised by local tribal people, whereas "Andhari" is a River which crosses the Tadoba forest. Andhari River is also called Lifeline of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. It is believed that Taru was the village chief who was killed in a fierce encounter with Tiger and thus a shrine was made in remembrance of God Taru. (Taru Ba) This region was predominantly ruled by Gond tribes which had their own Kingdom in large area of Central India. Their descendants are still can be seen in local villages. Most of the Drivers & Safari Guides in Tadoba are Gond People. 

Question: How to plan Tadoba trip from Mumbai?

To Visit Tadoba National Park or Tadoba Tiger Reserve, first you will have to come to Nagpur. You can take a Morning Flight from Mumbai which should reach Nagpur Airport latest by 9:00am. Please do not take flights which reach Nagpur after 9:00 am otherwise you won't be able to do Afternoon Jungle Safari on the first day in Tadoba. Please try to take little early Flight. 

Or you can take the following Trains to reach Nagpur. 

1) (Best Option) Ch. SHIVAJI MAH Terminus - NAGPUR DURONTO – 12289 (Leaves at 20:15 pm from CSMT Mumbai and Reaches Nagpur at 7:20 am ) 

2) VIDARBHA EXPRESS – 12105 (Leaves at 19:10 pm from CSMT and Reaches Nagpur at 8:55 am) 

3) SEVAGRAM EXPRESS – 12139 (Leaves 15:00 pm from CSMT and Reaches Nagpur at 6:10am)

You can also take a train to Chandrapur if you can. (Mostly No Connectivity Now) Tadoba National Park is 150 km from Nagpur and from Chandrapur it is 35 km.

Question: Which Gate is best for Tadoba? ?

Answer: Frankly speaking, There is nothing called Best Safari Gate in Tadoba. Moharli is the Good Entry Gate to Enter Tadoba Jungle Because it is next to a huge Lake called Telia Lake which is full of water whole year. So in Summer and in other seasons as well all the Animals are near the huge waterbody all the time. There are more chances to spot Tigers near the Telia Lake. Telia Lake is just 5 Minutes from Moharli Gate. Also More Safari Gypsies are allowed to enter Tadoba Core Zone from Moharli Gate and the Resorts in Moharli are near to the Safari Gate. Also the Best and most affordable Resorts are situated at Moharli Gate. Resorts including MTDC Resort, Moharli. MTDC Resort is almost inside the Jungle and Other resorts are at the Boundary of the Jungle. 

Question: How to plan Tadoba trip from Pune

Answer: If you are coming  from Pune then you can take these Trains to come to Tadoba. You can get down at Wardha also for Tadoba and Get down at Nagpur to go to Pench, Kanha, Tipeshwar or Nagzira. You can also take Pune Nagpur Flight and reach Nagpur before 9:00 am.  You can also take the given below Flights from Pune

Question: How to plan Tadoba Forest trip from Kolkata?

Answer: You can take the Given below Trains from Kolkata to Nagpur to Visit Tadoba, Pench, Tipeshwar. Or Nagzira (Gondia or Bhandara). Our Cars will pick you up and take you to Tadoba.

Question: Do we have to do Tadoba National Park Booking in Advance? 

Answer: You can just send your Aadhar Cards and we can book your Jungle Safaris from the Best Available Safari Zones. To do the Tadoba Tiger Reserve Booking in regular quota you have to send your confirm date of arrival at least 65 days in advance. After that Safari cost can fluctuate according to the availability of good zones. Please plan well in advance. 

Question: What type of Packages we can get?

Answer: Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a largest Jungle Habitat to see Tigers in the Wild. It is largest Natural Habitat of Forest in Maharashtra, spread over 3,750 Sq. Kilometers that includes Tadoba Core and Buffer Jungle. It is situated in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Answer: Tadoba National Park is 155 Kilometers from Nagpur and 35 Kilometers from Chandrapur. Nagpur is better if you are coming from Mumbai, Pune or Kolkata as you can book Nagpur Duronto Express. Answer: In Tadoba National Park Moharli there are many Hotels and AC Home-stays. You can also stay in State Government owned MTDC Resort in Moharli. Which in the middle of the Lake. It is the Best in Tadoba for cleanliness, Garden, Trained staff, Good Service and Local Saoji Food. Stay in Tadoba MTDC Lake View. You can stay in Luxury Resorts as well. There are now more than 20 plus good resorts, home stays in Tadoba. 

Question: How far is Tadoba National Park from Nagpur?

Answer: Tadoba Tiger Reserve is 155 Kilometers from Nagpur and 35 Kilometers from Chandrapur. We have AC Dezires, AC Innovas and Tempo traveler Buses from Nagpur to Tadoba.

Question: Which Animals can be seen in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: Apart from Tigers, you can see other animals like Leopards, Nilgai, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Sloth Bears, Porcupine, Honey badger, Wild Dogs, Pangolin, Four Horn Antelope, Indian Gaur and many others. Also, Tadoba National Park is best for Birdlife and for Bird Photographers. We have Special Trained Guides and Drivers for Bird Photographers. 

Question: What is Core & Buffer Jungle in Tadoba Forest?

Answer: Tadoba Tiger Reserve is divided in two type of zones. One is Core Zone and other is Buffer Zone. Total Tadoba forest spread across 3750 Sq. Kilometers. Core Jungle is basically called the Middle part of Jungle. Core Jungle Doesnt have Villages inside. Core Zone has Tar Road in the Jungle and there are man made water bodies everywhere. Pollution Taxes are more in Core Zone of Jungle so the Jungle Safari Permit Cost is more in Core Zones of Jungle. 

Buffer Zones are also the middle of the Jungle area. But still there are some villages in the Buffer Jungle. Buffer Jungle is a dense forest with human settlements near the borders of the Jungle. Buffer Safaris are little cheaper but the Entry Gates are far away from each other.  Right now in Tadoba there are more Tigers in Buffer Zones of Jungle than in Core Zones. 

Question: What is the best time to visit Tadoba National Park?

Answer: Normally there is nothing called Best Season to visit Tadoba National Park. All seasons have their own beauty in Tadoba. But you can plan from November to March anytime. In October the weather is humid so make sure you take AC Hotel. In November to March the weather is cold. April May June is very Hot and the Tiger sighting is mainly near waterbodies because of water shortage. In Winter Tigers walk on road so you get Head-on Photo Shots. Tiger Sightings are there 365 Days and every day. No Weather or Season is related to any Animal Sightings. Its Purely depending on your luck. 

Question: How many Tigers are there in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: As per recent Camera trap record there are more than 160 plus Tigers in Tadoba National Park. Both in Core, Buffer and non Tourism zones. But to Experience the Tigers in Wild, Tadoba is the best place in India. 

Question: Which Gate is best Gate  in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: There are 23 Entry Gates but Moharli is the oldest and best gate in terms of Connectivity and good hotels nearby. Also Kolara and Navegao Gates are good. There is nothing called the Best Gate because you enter from any gate you can go to any zone inside. So Gate is not important. For Tiger Sightings what is important is Good Experienced Guide and Driver. And off course Luck.

Question: Which is nearest Station to Tadoba National Park?

Answer: Nagpur is nearest Railway Station to Tadoba National Park if you are planning do safaris from Moharli Gate. From Nagpur also you can come to Moharli. If you are planning to visit Kolara or Navegao then Nagpur is the nearest Station.. It depends on the train availability from your city. Please call us to take advice.

Question: Are Tiger Forest Safaris Safe?

Answer: All Tiger Reserves are always safe to visit as long as you follow the Forest Department Rules. Never try to show how smart you are by getting down from Safari vehicle or breaking any rule. You will be fined heavily and there are chances you might get attacked by Animals out of insecurity. Follow the Rules are all things are safe.

Question: Are Kids Allowed in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: Yes. Kids are very much allowed in Tadoba. Even Infants are allowed. You just have to take care of them from Weather Conditions. Tadoba is very cold in winter and very hot in Summer. (Please talk to us for New Government Rules) 

Question: How many people are allowed in one Jungle Safari Gypsy?

Answer: Maximum 6 people are allowed in One Jungle Safari Gypsy. Kids above 6 years old are counted as One Adult. Kids who can sit on Lap of parents are not counted anywhere. For 7th person we will have to book another Gypsy.

Question: What are the Safari timings in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: There are two Shifts in Tadoba. Morning Shift is from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. And Afternoon Safari is from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Time keep changing whole year by few minutes as per Sunrise and Sunset.

Question: What are the chances to see Tiger in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: The chances of sighting Tiger in Tadoba are the Highest in India. 85% to 90% people see the Tiger. Sometimes people see 12 to 15 Tigers as well. But please remember Tadoba Andhari is a Jungle and it is a Natural Tiger Habitat. No Animals are tied or caged anywhere in Tadoba. Sightings of Any Animal including Tigers are purely matter of your Luck. No animal Sightings are guaranteed by anyone to anyone. You will see Tiger only if you are lucky. No one can do anything about it. Visit Tadoba to experience the Beauty of Jungle. Tiger sightings are matter of luck.

Question: Are there Swimming Pools in Hotels in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: There are some hotels which have Swimming Pools but they are away from Buffer Zone of Jungle and away from Safari Entry gates.

Question: How is Weather in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: October is Humid. November to March is Cold. Sometimes temperature can be 8 to 10 degrees as well. April May and June is very hot. Sometimes 47 to 48 degree Celsius. July Aug Sept the Jungle is closed for Monsoon. (Buffer Jungle Zones are open in Monsoon.) We can organise your Safaris from Forest Department in monsoon as well.

Question: Do the Hotels accept Credit Cards?

Answer: No. No Hotel accept Credit Cards. There is no ATM in Tadoba. Take cash from Nagpur only.

Question: Is Liquor allowed in Tadoba National Park?

Answer: No. Buying / Selling Alcohol is not allowed in Tadoba as Chandrapur used to be Dry District but now some Big Resorts have started serving Hard Drinks in their Restaurants. 

Question: Can we get Veg. Food in Tadoba Tiger Reserve?

Answer: Yes, You can get Jain Food as well in Tadoba. And Pure Veg Hotel as well for stay. 

Question: What is Necessary to Bring while coming to Tadoba National Park. 

Answer: You will have to Send your Aadhar Cards so we can Register your Aadhar Cards and Book your Safaris with Forest Department. Bringing Original Aaadhar Cards is compulsory for all people.  Please call the given below number if you have any questions.

Question: What are the Rules for Tadoba?

Safari Limited Gypsy are allowed to enter in Tadoba Jungle Every day by Forest Department and we have to do the Jungle Safari Online bookings well in advance. Once the Jungle Safari Gypsy permits get over for the day then there is no way to get Safari on that day. So, the given below plan can change/fluctuate if it gets delay in confirmation and bookings of safaris. Safaris can get over any time. Once the Safaris are booked, then there is no way to change/replace/cancel/adding people from/in that Tadoba Jungle Safari Permit. So please give the name and the Aadhar Cards/ID Proof of the people who are 100% Confirm to join you for the trip. (You must Carry same original ID Aadhar cards with you for every safari). Changes/ cancellation after booking of permits would result in loss of money. Hotels Check In is 1:00PM and Check Out is 12:00PM. No ATM in Tadoba. No Mobiles allowed to take inside Jungle. Tadoba National Park / Tadoba Tiger Reserve is Wildlife Destination, much different than Holiday Destinations. Hotels in Tadoba Moharli are in the middle of the protected Buffer Jungle and amenities like WiFi, Swimming Pool are not available in most of the hotels. (Only Jio Network works in Moharli) Nearest Shops are 35 Kilometers away so Hotels have Limited Indian Menu and food is prepared and served fresh as per the orders only.
