Young and Reckless

Just friends. That’s all Easton Raines and I were ever allowed to be. He was the bad boy from the rough side of town, and I was the pastor’s daughter with a bright future ahead of me. 

But Easton knew parts of me no one else did.  The part that laughed at his dirty jokes. The part that got a thrill each time he’d stand too close. The part that wasn’t so perfect after all. And once he got recruited to play professional hockey, a clock started ticking, counting down the days until he left our small town for good. 

Our reckless goodbye was supposed to be meaningless. We were young, after all. But that positive pregnancy test after Easton left town? It changed the trajectory of, well, everything.
