Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 27, 2026
Thank you for using "Book of Enoch" ("the App"), a scripture reader for iOS and Android that brings together the full Bible and the apocryphal Book of Enoch. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not require account registration and we do not maintain a customer database. Depending on how you use the App, the following information may be processed:
- Reading preferences stored on your device: UI language, scripture language, theme (light/dark/system), font size, last-read book/chapter/verse, downloaded translation manifest, cached translation payloads, onboarding-completed flag, and a one-time consent flag for the AI study companion.
- Favorites and highlights you create: a list of verse coordinates (corpus + book + chapter + verse) and the highlight color you chose, stored on your device.
- Subscription state: whether you are a premium user, the last time this state changed, and a one-way hashed snapshot of the configured Adapty SDK key used to invalidate stale local state across builds.
- App Store and Google Play receipts for any in-app purchases or subscriptions you make, handled by Apple, Google, and our subscription provider (Adapty).
- Messages you choose to send to the AI study companion: the text you type is forwarded to the AI provider only after you accept the one-time consent gate.
- Technical telemetry that our subscription provider (Adapty) collects automatically to operate purchases and analytics, which may include device model, operating system version, app build, locale, IDFA/IDFV or Android Advertising ID where available, and anonymous installation identifiers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information only to provide and improve the App's features. Specifically, we use it to:
- Deliver the Reader experience: open the last book and verse you were reading, display the translations you downloaded, and persist the visual settings you chose.
- Save and surface your favorites and highlights across app restarts, and respect the free-tier favorites quota until you subscribe.
- Power local search across the Bible and the Book of Enoch in the scripture language you selected.
- Forward messages to the AI study companion when you actively use it, so it can answer questions about passages and cite the verses it draws from.
- Manage and verify subscriptions, process in-app purchases, restore prior purchases, and gate premium features (additional highlight colors, unlimited favorites, the AI study companion, and ongoing content updates).
- Diagnose problems and improve stability through aggregated, non-identifying analytics provided by our subscription platform.
3. Third-Party Services
The App relies on a small set of third-party services. Each provider has its own privacy policy, and your use of those services is governed by their terms:
- Adapty (subscription management, paywalls, and purchase analytics) — adapty.io
- Apple App Store and StoreKit (iOS subscriptions and purchases) — apple.com
- Google Play Billing (Android subscriptions and purchases) — google.com
- DeepSeek (AI provider behind the optional AI study companion; receives only the messages you type after consenting) — deepseek.com
- Amazon Web Services / Amazon S3 (delivers downloadable scripture translation files from a public bucket; no personal data is sent in these requests) — aws.amazon.com
- Expo and Google Fonts (runtime services that fetch fonts and asset bundles on first launch; no personal data is sent in these requests) — expo.dev / fonts.google.com
4. Data Storage
All reading preferences, favorites, highlights, last-read coordinates, downloaded translation caches, and the AI consent flag are stored locally on your device using the operating system's secure on-device storage (AsyncStorage on iOS and Android). The App does not operate its own backend server and does not upload this information to servers we control.
Subscription state and purchase receipts are processed by Adapty, Apple, and Google according to their respective policies; we receive only the minimum information required to verify whether your subscription is active.
When you use the AI study companion, your typed messages are sent to DeepSeek over a secure connection for the duration of that conversation; we do not retain those messages on a server we control.
5. Data Security
We rely on the security features built into iOS, Android, and the third-party providers listed above to keep information safe in transit and at rest. Network communication with Adapty, DeepSeek, Apple, Google, and the scripture file storage is performed over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. Your Rights
Because we do not maintain accounts or a customer database of our own, the most direct way to exercise your rights is to control the data on your device:
- You can clear your reading preferences, favorites, highlights, downloaded translations, and AI consent at any time by uninstalling the App or by using the reset options exposed by your operating system.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
- For questions about data held by our subscription provider (Adapty) or the AI provider (DeepSeek), please consult their privacy policies linked in section 3.
If you have additional questions about your rights, or wish to make a request related to information processed by the App, please contact us at zia.omar.84@icloud.com and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features, new third-party providers, or changes in applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
9. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the way the App handles information, please contact us at:
- Email: zia.omar.84@icloud.com
We will do our best to respond promptly and address any concerns you may have.
By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
