New variety show introduces French desserts to rural elders, premiering May 8 on Coupang Play

On the 2nd, a source from Coupang Play confirmed that the new concept cafe 'Bonjour Bakery,' which introduces sweet French desserts to elderly residents of rural villages, will premiere on May 8th, and unveiled the casting lineup featuring Kim Hee-ae, Cha Seung-won, Kim Sun-ho, and Lee Gi-taek.

'Bonjour Bakery' is a healing baking variety show set in the country’s first 'Senior Dessert Cafe' opened in a quiet rural village, where elderly who know the taste of life and bakery staff who know the taste of happiness share sweet comfort and warmth. Through the unique concept of a 'Yes Senior Zone' cafe, which is only open to seniors aged 65 years old and older and their companions, it aims to offer fresh fun and warm interactions never seen before.

First, the 'Chef Team' responsible for the kitchen is led by Cha Seung-won, the trusted 'Cha Chef.' Known for showcasing his unique charm through exceptional cooking skills, he transforms into 'Cha Patissier,' layering meticulous care in French baking, which requires delicate techniques. Joining him as the 'Assistant Patissier' is Lee Gi-taek, whose bright energy will bring cheerful vitality to the kitchen. He will serve as Cha Seung-won’s reliable right hand, bustling in front of the oven, infusing the kitchen with unexpected clumsiness and unstoppable passion.

The 'Hall Team,' which communicates closely with customers, promises dignified service and warm interactions. Kim Hee-ae, transformed into the 'General Manager,' anchors the cafe with her characteristic elegance and gentle smile. Her sincere listening and heartfelt empathy with the elders are expected to elevate the healing factor of 'Bonjour Bakery.' Joining as the 'Barista,' Kim Sun-ho showcases his qualities as the 'nation’s grandson.' With his warm smile and friendly reactions, he aims to melt the hearts of the elders and infuse happiness into every aromatic cup of coffee.

Like a pastry that layers multiple textures to create a crisp charm, the special chemistry between the four individuals with distinct personalities is already drawing attention. Notably, despite their busy schedules, they reportedly learned baking and barista skills firsthand for the filming. There is growing anticipation for the delightful banter that will arise when these carefully crafted sweet desserts meet the rustic yet sincere life stories of the rural elders.
