With many devices requiring sync, it often happens that bonjour ist busy or the Mac Mini has powered down

And the fact, that DTTG3 will be switched off by the iOS powermanagenent system makes things even more difficult.

I really appreciate bonjour for speed reasons.

But I am irritated that a complete bonjour sync does not prevent iCloud CloudKit sync to do it all over again. I hope @BLUEFROG will figure out that this is actually a mistake in my setup.

It turns out that either multicast or RIP needs to be enabled. I'm not sure if they are totally related but in the ORBI there is a setting in firmware version 2.5.1.8 that allows RIP over multicast. I was clued in because some people say that bonjour doesn't work without multicast. Others had mentioned RIP Basically this means the router is sending information out (routing tables - I think). This allows the iOS/ iphone / ipad devcies to find the printer and also allows Bonjour to work correctly. It took a lot of research.

mDNSResponder is now gone in Yosemite, replaced by discoveryd. Adding in the "--no-multicast" argument to discoveryd does stop multicast (bonjour), but has the nasty side effect of messing up WiFi. I experienced that today while working from home where it had been able to connect to my personal WiFi, but after a reboot could no longer find ANY broadcast networks, or connect manually. Removing "--no-multicast" and unloading/loading it made WiFi usable again. Hopefully there is some bullt-in solution that doesn't require me to setup firewall rules to block the traffic.
