Taylor Anderson has deep roots with Bonita High School's girls basketball program. She was a standout player for the Bearcats, helping lead the team to a league championship and CIF Finals appearance during her playing career at Bonita. After graduating, Anderson went on to play Division I basketball at Loyola Marymount University. She also gained professional experience playing overseas in Portugal.
Anderson returned to her high school alma mater as an assistant coach under Darren Baumunk for two seasons. She then stepped into the role of head coach for three seasons with the Bearcats. Anderson decided to move into the college game, serving as an assistant coach at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College before returning to Bonita as the head coach once again.
Now entering her 6th season at the helm, Anderson has already led the Bearcats to five league championships as a head coach. With championship success as both a player and coach, Anderson exemplifies the Bonita basketball tradition of integrity, hard work, and building relationships. Anderson continues to build the program at her hometown high school.
Coach Kearns brings 22 years of girls' basketball coaching experience. He began his career at Covina High School in 2002. In his time at Covina, where he served as an assistant for 16 years and head coach for 2 years, Covina won 9 league titles and reached the CIF Semifinals in 2012.
Joining the Bonita coaching staff in 2020, Coach Kearns has served as an assistant coach for both Taylor Anderson and Darren Baumunk over the past 4 years. In his time at Bonita, the Bearcats have won 4 league championships, amassing a league record of 36-4 over that period.
Coach Lyss is excited to return in her second season as an assistant coach for the Bearcats under Coach Taylor Anderson. Prior to coaching, she played five years at the Division I college level as a team captain and shooting guard for the UNLV Lady Rebels with teammate and Bonita standout, Nikki Wheatley. Growing up in the local community, Coach Lyss brings experience with multiple CIF-SS playoff wins, undefeated Baseline League championships, and a CIF-Open State Regional finalist as a starter at Etiwanda High School. Following collegiate athletics, Coach Lyss completed medical school and is now a resident physician at UCLA. She continues to enjoy sharing her love for the game at Bonita, focusing on player development with an emphasis on toughness and team camaraderie.
