Bone County Sheriff's Office
Elected January 2012 - PRESENT
Sheriff Connor Callaway has served as the elected Sheriff of Bone County, New Malverne, since January 2012. A veteran law enforcement leader and decorated military service member, Sheriff Callaway brings over three decades of public service experience marked by integrity, professionalism, and tactical expertise.
Before his election, Sheriff Callaway served as Chief of Police for the City of El Reno in neighboring Mercer County from 2009 to 2011. During his tenure, he spearheaded department-wide modernization efforts, expanded policing initiatives, and strengthened interagency partnerships across county lines.
From 2003 to 2009, Callaway served as Chief Deputy of the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, the agency where his law enforcement career began. Starting in 1992 as a Detention Officer after completing active duty in the United States Army, he rose through every rank within the Office over the span of two decades. His assignments included service in the Patrol Division, Special Operations, and Criminal Investigations, ultimately supervising tactical teams and major case investigations as both Captain and Major.
Sheriff Callaway is known as a “lead from the front” type of lawman. Though his role today is largely administrative, he is often seen responding to scenes personally or backing up his deputies on calls. His boots-on-the-ground leadership has earned him the respect of both the agency and the Bone County community at large.
Born and raised in Mercer County, New Malverne, Connor Callaway enlisted in the U.S. Army at just 17 years old in 1987. A combat veteran by the age of 22, he returned home in 1992 with a soldier’s discipline and a deep commitment to serve his community. He joined the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office later that year, beginning his law enforcement career.
Now over a decade into his tenure as Sheriff, Connor Callaway continues to shape the direction of public safety in Bone County. Whether coordinating wildfire evacuations in the canyons near Diablo Ridge or attending town halls in Fort Carson, Sheriff Callaway remains as committed to his oath today as he was the day he pinned on the star. He lives in Leesburg with his wife, a retired school teacher, and their German Shepherd, Scout. The couple has three children, all raised in Mercer County and now pursuing careers in public service and education. In his downtime, Sheriff Callaway enjoys fishing, hiking, and restoring classic muscle cars.
