Principal's and Deputy's Report

Firstly, I would like to thank all those parents and caregivers who took time out to meet with their children’s teachers last week. The hall was certainly filled with positive energy and all the parents I spoke to on the night reflected on the engaging conversations they had with our teaching staff, with many commenting on how well our staff knew their children. I hope this is a precursor to further conversations once reports have been distributed.

Our annual Athletics Carnival was greeted with fabulous weather conditions and a fun time was had by all. Overall the students showcased their outstanding behaviour as well as their athletic abilities and I look forward to seeing how they fare when they compete at the Zone Carnival. A small number of students on the day however, did display some disrespectful behaviour and the Deputy Principals have been following this up through our discipline system. As mentioned earlier these were only a very small minority of students and do not reflect the outstanding, respectful and mature students that interact beautifully on a daily basis.

Can I draw your attention to the ongoing construction works that are being carried out across the road from the school. I ask that you ensure the safety of all students by maintaining safe speeds and park in designated areas away from the immediate entrance to the school. I have requested previously that parents do not drive into the school to drop off and pick up students as this is a service driveway as well as being staff parking. I ask again that this is adhered to and thank you for your anticipated cooperation in regards to student safety.

Mr I Morris.

Deputy Principal's Report

We have reached the halfway mark for the term now and all students are reminded that a number of assessments will be due across a number of subjects for all years. Ensure that you speak with you teacher if there are any questions or concerns about the assignments and remember that the Homework Centre is held in the library every Tuesday and Wednesday morning commencing at 8am. Theodore Rubin once said “Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best.”

We would also like to thank all Parents, Staff and Students for attending a very successful Parent teacher night on the 23 of May. If you were unable to see a staff member at that time please feel free to contact the teacher and either call or make an appointment to speak about your child’s progress.

A reminder about the uniform to ensure that we have full school uniform and if not a note from a parent. Otherwise students will be given a jumper or other item of uniform from the uniform cupboard if they arrive at school out of school uniform.

Regards,

J Kelly, C Russell & S Flack
