Esther Boissin

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University, working with Gordon Pennycook. My research sits at the intersection of reasoning, judgment, and belief. I study how people think — and how they sometimes fail to. More specifically, I am interested in the interplay between intuitive and deliberative reasoning, in the conditions that allow people to develop sound intuitions, and in how beliefs form, resist change, or update in response to evidence. Part of my current work focuses on AI-mediated persuasion and the psychology of epistemically weak beliefs, including conspiracy theories and misinformation.


🇫🇷 J'effectue un post-doctorat à l'Université Cornell, où je travaille avec Gordon Pennycook. Mes recherches portent sur le raisonnement, le jugement et les croyances. Je m'intéresse à la façon dont les gens pensent — et aux conditions dans lesquelles ils raisonnent bien ou mal. Plus précisément, j'étudie l'interaction entre pensée intuitive et pensée délibérative, les conditions qui permettent de développer de bonnes intuitions, et les mécanismes par lesquels les croyances se forment, résistent au changement, ou s'actualisent face à des preuves. Une partie de mon travail actuel porte sur la persuasion médiée par l'IA et la psychologie des croyances épistémiquement fragiles, notamment les théories du complot et la désinformation.
