"Doing service projects together is one way that Cub Scouts keep their promise “to help other people.” While a Scout should do his best to help other people every day, a group service project is a bigger way to help people. While you’re giving service, you’re learning to work together with others to do something that’s good for your community." - Scouting America
Pack 97 participates in several service projects throughout the year, including:
Rake Up Boise
Scouting for Food
Conservation Projects
Scout Sunday
Packs all across the nation participate in fundraising efforts to support the scouting program. Pack 97 holds two fundraisers a year. We sell popcorn in the fall and have a breakfast fundraiser and auction in the spring. While portions of these efforts go to our council, a majority of the funds raised goes directly to the Pack to pay for events, food, and campouts.
Pack 97 believes in fostering a love of the outdoors through being outside! We strive to have a least one outdoor event every month of the year.
Hikes - local hikes, Greenbelt walks, campout hikes
Camping - easy local campout for new families, summer & fall family campouts, summer camp for Webelos
Other Outdoor Events - bike rides, snow play, tubing, ice skating, summer BBQ, and more!
"Partnered with a parent or guardian, Cub Scouts work together, strengthening bonds and building confidence – and their own custom race cars! They begin with an official Pinewood Derby Race Car kit, then create a design, then carve it from the wood block provided in the kit, and detail it with paint, decals and other accessories, and perfect strategies to compete in their pack’s own Pinewood Derby. It’s s a wonderful learning experience centered on teamwork, ingenuity and sportsmanship – all for the thrill of the race and a lifetime of great memories to share with fellow racers young and old. " - Scouting America
The Pinewood Derby is possibly the most memorable event for many Cub Scout alumni! Our cubs create their cars (with adult help) practicing critical thinking along with creativity. Each year we have a build day with tools to help scouts create their basic shapes, the final product is up to them! Our Pinewood Derby is an action packed event where all kids get to race their creations and practice good sportsmanship.
Blue & Gold celebrates the anniversary of founding Scouting America (Feb. 8, 1910). Pack 97 celebrates Blue & Gold every February with a themed event and potluck. AOL scouts typically will cross over to a troop at this ceremony.
