Every Book has a binder
Database of bookbinders in the Low Countries and Europe, c. 1400-1950
Database of bookbinders in the Low Countries and Europe, c. 1400-1950
Despite the availability of many (online) catalogues on books that discuss authors, printers, publishers and readers, very few overviews of bookbinders are available. This project aims to fill this gap by compiling a list of bookbinders working in the Low Countries and Europe from around 1400 to 1950.
The aim of this project is to bring together knowledge on bookbinders in the Low Countries. Up until today, this data is very limited and scattered across different archives, books and online databases. This database offers the possibility to collect data on known and lesser-known bookbinders. Secondly, this data can be viewed, downloaded and used for research.
The database is monitored by Jurjen Munk of RNA Conservation in Amsterdam.
