The Board of Ethics is committed to providing informative and engaging educational opportunities for City employees, officers, and members of the regulated community. Our general ethics sessions cover conflicts of interest, political activity, gifts, and several other critical rules. In addition, we also offer trainings for campaign finance, lobbying, and financial disclosure.
A few highlights from FY2022 included:
The launch of ethics trainings specifically for issues related to social media.
Regular trainings for new employees of the Streets department -- one of the largest City departments.
Presenting a CLE on newsworthy ethics headlines from various jurisdictions.
In FY2022, we offered 76 training sessions and presented to nearly 1,800 people. Nearly all of the training sessions were held virtually via Zoom or Teams. While we anticipate offering more in-person sessions in the future, our virtual programs will continue to maintain a strong presence in our catalog.
In FY2022, the Board partnered with multiple City offices and stakeholders to provide departmental trainings, a Continuing Legal Education ("CLE") course, and topical resource materials. Some key partnerships included the Streets Department, the Fire Academy, the Office of the Chief Integrity Officer, and City Council. Over the next year, the Board plans to continue to diversify and expand its offerings.
More information about training and electronic links to the Board’s outreach resources, including the Board’s two Twitter accounts, are listed on the Contact Us page.
In FY2022, Board Staff produced and updated manuals, educational guides and resources, and FAQs. Board Staff also added content to blogs and sites aimed at improving access to helpful information on statutory and regulatory changes, informal guidance, and training.
All of the Board's current educational materials are available on the Board’s website. Highlighted below are some of the noteworthy educational materials produced in FY2022.
