Bo Vine H.(they/them) is a painter and general craftsperson born and raised in the Sacramento region. They currently live in Sacramento with their wife Amber, son RT, and hairy daughter Bean.
Bo Vine's life has often been focused on mental health. Between their career in social work and caring for the mentally ill, their family history, and their personal struggles with depression and psychosis, art is a way to express the often messy and imperceptible things they see in the world.
Bo Vine's paintings are mood pieces, chaotic storms and tranquil pools of shifting colors. Their collages portray the overlapping, crowded nature of their own thoughts. With watercolors, collage and marker, Bo puts their perceptions into a form that can be expressed to others.
"Creating art for is a labor of love, and without it I would be remiss to showing the world who I am and my experiences in this world. My lived experience is the intersectionality reality of being black, queer, neurodivergent, disabled, and a mother all coverage to express my identity as a human being and an artist. With this in mind I believe that showing there is still kindness in the world is important to the impact generate in this world. I choose to use expressive colors to draw the audience in, and my line work signifies the eccentricities of living life as a person who has conquered hardship and advocates for healing in society that sees disability as alien instead of acceptance."- Bo

“It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.”
