Issues and Priorities
From Bob: “I ran for the Board of Selectmen in 2022 because I wanted local government to be more proactive and focus on getting things done for Norwood residents. We are getting things done in Norwood and I’m proud of the accomplishments the Board has achieved over the past 3 years and look forward to serving the community again for another term.”

Bob is passionate about Norwood and is dedicated to the concept of getting things done for Norwood.
During his next term, Bob will focus on several important issues including:
Address the urgency to re-open Norwood Hospital by lobbying the Departrment of Health and the Governor's Office to address the regional urgency and disruption caused by the lack of an acute care hospital in Norwood
Promote community engagement with the Norwood 2035: Comprehensive Plan by meeting with community members to solicit their ideas for the future development of Norwood
Promote accountability and transparency by establishing formal goals and objectives for the Board and the General Manager
Work with his colleagues and other elected officials to address the short- and long-term financial challenges facing Norwood
Advocate for investment in capital projects that address needed infrastructure improvement and enhance the safety of residents and employees
As a member of the Middle School Building Commitee, provide oversight to complete the Coakley Middle School project on or under budget and on schedule
Identify opportunities and formal actions needed to improve housing affordability in Norwood
Support the use of Community Preservation Act resources to fund improvements in Town assets such as the 2024 Morse Hill Veterans' Memorial Park
Taking actions that are fiscally responsible, transparent and effective for the delivery of quality citizen services
As a member of the Board of Selectmen, Bob serves as Chair and he has led efforts to improve town services and promote new programs and initiatives. Bob advocated and proposed the development of a townwide Comprehensive Plan to gather community input and plan for the future development of the town’s physical assets. He led the effort to pilot a curbside food composting pilot to divert food waste from our increasingly expensive trash removal service and introduce an environmentally sustainable approach to waste management. Bob is an advocate for transparency and accountability. Working with the Board and General Manager, he developed and led the implementation of the Town’s formal performance feedback and review process for the General Manager.
Bob Donnelly has the right experience and reputation for collaboration and diligence needed for Norwood's Board of Selectmen.
