Bio:
I am a country, folk, bluegrass, rockgrass, jamgrass, green grass, red grass, one grass, two grass, multi-instrumentalist from Denver, Colorado. I play guitar, banjo and mandolin. It must be very known that in the local and somewhat county-wide bluegrass music scene, that I am not famous, but known. I have been writing songs since December 2021 when I was just 13 years old. I purchased my first guitar off of Amazon. I played my first show without knowing how to make any proper chord. Actually, you may think I am a musical genius when I tell you the complicated name of the first chord I learned, E-minor 7th added 4th. That's the chord you get when you strum all of the strings on a guitar at once without fretting anything. Feel free to tell me how deep my knowledge of music theory and the universe is when you see me in-person.Â
But back to being serious now, at the time, I was heavily into Americana music. My style and lyrics were mostly derived from artists such as Jason Isbell, Drive-By Truckers, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall and Bruce Springsteen. The first few albums were written in weeks and the songs were on average between 45 seconds and maybe a minute and some change. The guitar work was as smooth as nails running across a chalkboard. Currently, I am working on writing proper music for my old stuff just as I do for new music. I am not a fan of anything I first wrote, but I am proud of how far I've grown.
Then I continued in this Americana genre for years, until May 2025, I saw Clay Street Unit at Red Rocks with Kitchen Dwellers and Leftover Salmon. My uncle Jack is the bassist for CSU. I wasn't really into bluegrass, but I wasn't really out of it. I never listened to it intentionally but didn't skip when it came on. I mean, I only knew about Billy Strings and I liked him, but didn't know about anyone I know now, legends or personally. After Clay Street wrapped up, I was in awe, and then it happened. They came out. All in denim, his dreads up and splatter-painted banjo. I remember when Torrin played "Wind Bitten" to open and hooked me with "Drowning (...Again)". I still play that song at all of my shows. Two weeks after seeing Torrin Daniels, I bought my first banjo.
Then I continued on in the scene seeing these guys. In November 2025, Kodi Nottingham advertised Torrin's "Gobblegrass" pop-up show at Zuni Street Brewing in Denver. It was amazing and I knew Kodi as "The Glizzy Gobbler". Then I continued and months went by. I formally met Kodi at the Mission Ballroom on January 24th, 2026. It was a Kitchen Dwellers show with Mountain Grass Unit supporting. In April 2026, I saw a CSU pop-up show at Zuni Street Brewing with Luke Black of Mountain Grass. I met Luke and we exchanged instagrams and I still talk to him every now and then. I listened to Kodi's podcast, "What's The Reason For This Podcast" and the episode with Torrin blew me away. He mentioned a band named Water Tower that I started to check out.
In August 2026, Kodi offered for me to play a small set at his "WHATS THE REASON FOR THIS CONCERT" at the Asher Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado. It was amazing. In late September / early October, Water Tower made a small run through Colorado. Me and Kenny talked frequently online, but I met him in-person at one of his shows, and let me tell you, he is just about the coolest dude I know. Such a great guy. I got to sing "Drink, Smoke" with him before the show and I got to jam with Taylor Estes before the show, too. Kenny Feinstein, Taylor Estes, Torrin Daniels, Shawn Swain, Jack Kotarba, Luke Black and Kodi Nottingham have been extremely helpful in my musical career. I am extremely grateful for everyone I've met.
As of currently, I am recording and re-releasing previous records, but am starting to take the bluegrass scene by storm in the Denver Metro Area. My inspiration currently comes from Clay Street Unit, Water Tower, Kitchen Dwellers while still holding my roots of Jason Isbell and previously mentioned artists.
Aside from knowing many great people in the bluegrass scene, I'd like to give a shoutout to these people, some of whom I've already mentioned for music, but they are such great people in my personal life that I'll say it again: My dad, Frank, for pushing me in all aspects to be better. My mom, Miki, for supporting me and learning instruments to try to play with me. My step-dad, Russ, for assisting with everything he can help with and my step-mom Taryn, for her continued support since I've known her. My siblings and their unconditional support, Jonah, Lucy and Mason. My friends Estevan, Larry, John, Colton, Caleb, Malakai, Michael, Gideon and Dylan for their words of encouragement and sometimes, necessary criticism. All of the members of my extended family (there are too many to name individually) who take their time and spend their money to come watch and support me. My very special teacher who has helped me with marketing and revising and giving feedback, Nataly Diaz-Ortega. My friends Jack Kotarba, Brendan Lamb, Luke Black, Jesse Blue-Eads, Tommy Drinkard, John Seltzer, Shawn Swain, Torrin Daniels, Joe Funk and Max Davies. My friends from "What's The Reason For This Podcast", who offer the most helpful support for marketing and promotion of my music, Kodi and Shay and everyone that they have introduced me to. My most favorite jamming partner in the entire world and dear friend, Taylor Estes. And last but certainly not least, one man who I have grown extremely close to and he is now one of my best friends and my mentor who guides me and helps me grow as a person and as a musician, my mentor, Kenny Stone Feinstein. Do not forget his name, as he is one of the most important people in my life and I will assure that he is there when I am headlining Red Rocks, Telluride Bluegrass and hopefully, more annual WHATS THE REASON FOR THIS CONCERT shows. He is not a man, not some man, he is THE man.
