(2023-Present) I am currently working with an undergraduate student who wishes to pursue a graduate degree in math. We have started to discuss potential research interests, and the current plan is to work towards an undergraduate research project and senior thesis.
(2021) I worked with a student in my Calculus 1 course who was interested in learning how research in math works. We worked through an undergraduate research paper and discussed some topics beyond the scope of what Calculus 1 typically covers.
(2021) I worked with a student in my Calculus 2 course who was interested in learning about applications of Calculus and more advanced topics beyond the scope of the course.
GREAT Instructor, have a well knowledge of the material and knows how to explain the concepts clearly. Also, provide helpful examples to understand better the material
My instructor engaged with the class and allowed free discussion, which promoted a more comfortable learning environment.
Professor Dolan ran a well–organized and engaging class. We had numerous discussions during class, and I feel as though the class could ask questions freely without feeling judgement from both Professor Dolan and their classmates. Professor Dolan held review sessions for exams, and would go through homework problems with us if we had any doubts or questions. Overall, Professor Dolan helped us achieve our goals and did his very best to ensure we all passed his class.
This instructor taught the course with great enthusiasm and with a well–laid–out understanding of the material and how to manipulate certain ideas to link them together.
He cares very much about his students, always bringing a positive attitude to class, has such an engaging style of teaching.
Extremely well taught course, homework was extremely helpful. Pacing of the course was good, and content was easily understandable.
The recorded lecture videos allowed me to learn the content at my own pace. This class was taught virtually and I do not think that put me at any disadvantage if this class was taught in person.
The lecture videos were extremely well put together, extremely thorough, and very easily navigable if I had to go back and review something.
The instructor would always introduce new topics not only through explaining, but through demonstration and multiple examples. Since the course was completely asynchronous, I was able to pause the video and work through questions to then compare with the methods my instructor had used. The explanation of each topic was always well–detailed and gave me a strong understanding of how to approach the questions on my homework and worksheet.
I really liked how this class was broken down, especially given the smaller time frame of a summer session. One thing I found especially helpful was that a theorem or part of the material would be presented which is often daunting, but would then be broken down and made much more digestible in the video lectures (ex. theorem read word for word, then followed by a few minutes of what does this actually/really mean in terms of what we already know. It really helped me tackle new concepts.
The professor was incredibly thorough in all of the provided learning materials. They also provided an extremely helpful question session where they very clearly walked through difficult problems.
The instructor was readily available and answered questions quickly and thoroughly both using email and the course learning platform. The additional resources, including the applications and concept guides, were helpful.
Instructor was always willing to put time aside to assist us. Even in an online learning method the recorded lectures provided plenty of examples and everything was very well laid out.
The professor presented the material in recorded lectures very clearly and in a way that the material made sense. The way that the assignments were given on WebAssign were great for trying again to get it right. Furthermore, the professor was accessible to the students and was always happy to answer questions.
The lecture videos were incredibly helpful in learning the material because the professor made them clear and easy to comprehend.
I appreciated that the material was well organized and that the lectures themselves were fairly short; even though it was a lot of information, this worked better for my attention span than an hour and 40 minute class. Office hours were really helpful; I never felt judged for asking a really basic question or for requesting help on assignments that I was clearly behind on. Overall the professor was very approachable and genuinely helpful– this makes all the difference in a challenging class.
This instructor was phenomenal. I feel honored to have taken this course. usually, I struggle with math, but he has been such a fair teacher that I've done better than I thought I would have so far.
The discussion sections / videos were very helpful for my learning. The instructor did a great job breaking down concepts / sections that I had previously struggled with.
