Robert M. Levy grew up in Moore County. He graduated from Pinecrest High School. He also graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a BA degree in history and sociology. His honors thesis on the Wilmington Rebellion of 1898 remains in the University’s library collection.
In 1978, Mr. Levy was admitted to the California State Bar Association. His article on affirmative action in higher education became part of the San Fernando Valley Law Review. Since then, Mr. Levy spent 40 years as a practicing attorney in both California and Maryland. His concentration involved family law and criminal law. This included helping both juvenile delinquents and abused children. His book Divorce: A Cynical Experience was sold through Amazon Books.
More recently, Robert M. Levy earned a North Carolina teaching certificate from UNC Charlotte. His area of teaching was high school social studies. At various times taught at most of the high schools and middle schools in Moore County.
In 2012, Mr. Levy became the President of the North Carolina Electoral College.
Robert Levy lives in Pinehurst. He recently celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife Linda. He has three children and two grandchildren. Mr. Levy was formerly a columnist for The Pilot Newspaper in Southern Pines. He was also the chairman of the Moore County Republican Party.
Mr. Levy is currently running for the Moore County School Board. He is a self-described conservative dedicated to school choice for all students. His platform emphasizes a return to intensive instruction in reading and a commitment to improved vocational as well as academic education.
