I picked up the mail today. Lots of stuff that I ordered came in. I'm very happy.
Several covers - a second U.S.S. Hornet (aircraft carrier) cover from the day Apollo 11 was picked up (my uncle was aboard and sent me one). There was also a U.S.S. Hornet Last Day of Service cover. If I could find a first day of service cover that collection would be entirely complete. But it's good as it is.
I also got a 1946 Smithsonian castle Centennial stamp FDC (Scott #943) with a dinosaur on it. I became fascinated by the stamp when I worked across the Mall and would occasionally lunch in the Castle. I have FDCs of that, the 150th anniversary and the architecture issue of the castle as well. #943 is also one of my 3c commemoratives.
I have been on a buying binge lately. Not a huge amount of money, but considering I've never done a lot of buying at a time, this year's been a pretty active year. Some from ebay, some from hipstamps, some from Mystic.
Of course when they come from stamp people, they usually have cool stamps on the envelope that brings them. That's the middle bunch.
I haven't worked on the actual stamps today, other than sorting the mail. I'll do some of that later. It's been a busy day with lots of minor interruptions. I'll get there.
I have had some crazy ideas on how to organize my stamps over the years, and I've finally gotten it together and figured how I want them going forward. At least for right now. So I'm moving things around a lot. Lots of fun.
