BoardBrief Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
BoardBrief ("the extension") generates project status reports from a user's Jira or Azure DevOps board. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
Summary
BoardBrief has no servers of its own. It does not collect, transmit, or store your data on any system operated by the developer. All processing happens in your browser, and your information is sent only to the services you configure yourself.
Information the extension handles
To do its job, BoardBrief works with the following, all of which you provide and control:
- Authentication information: the access token or Personal Access Token for your Jira or Azure DevOps instance, and the API key for your chosen AI provider. These are used only to connect to those services on your behalf.
- Website content (your board data): the work items on your board, such as titles, statuses, assignees, due dates, and flags. This is read from your board and included in the request sent to your AI provider to generate the report.
Where your data goes
When you generate a report, your board data and credentials are used to make requests to exactly two destinations, both chosen and controlled by you:
1. Your own Jira or Azure DevOps instance, to read the board.
2. Your own AI endpoint (for example, your organisation's Azure OpenAI deployment or your own OpenAI account), to generate the report.
Your data is never sent to the developer of BoardBrief or to any other third party. The developer operates no server and cannot see, collect, or store your data.
Storage
Your settings (board URL, tokens, AI key, and language and tone preferences) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage. They stay on your device, are used only to operate the extension, and are removed if you uninstall the extension or clear its data.
What we do not do
- We do not collect or transmit any data to the developer.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
- We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to generating your status reports.
- We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Third-party AI services
Because you provide your own AI key, the board content you submit for a report is processed by the AI provider you select. That provider's handling of your data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. For confidential or regulated projects, use an AI service approved by your organisation, such as your own Azure OpenAI tenant.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
