Phase One
The applications will be scored by out of town judges based on the outlined table WITHOUT the names of the applicants. The absence of the student’s name will help insure objectivity in the evaluation process.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION SCORING
(10%) ACT or SAT Composite Scores
(20%) Grade Point Average
(15%) Student Curriculum
(20%) Financial Need
(15%) Extra-Curricular Activities
(20%) Work Activities and reason for scholarship
The top two scoring applicants from each Union county school and Victory Christian Academy and the top six scoring applicants from New Albany High School will advance to Phase Two. The school guidance counselor will be notified of the finalists.
Phase Two
During Phase Two, individual interviews will be conducted by the judges to determine the scholarship recipients. The purpose of the interviews is to determine which of the finalists will be named the recipients of the scholarships. The evaluation up to this point has been based on academics, financial need, extra-curricular and work activities. The interview will allow the student to express his/her ability to think, reason and communicate ideas and feelings, not only about himself and others, but also about his community as well.
A date will be determined for Phase Two, the interviews. The finalists and judges must all be present to participate in the individual interviews.
