Computer hardware requirements are high, so I ended up building a PC specificly for scanning and CAD work. I am now able to scan quite large, detailed parts with several million points and it all runs very smoothly.

The only real issue I have is the lack of detailed information about all of the settings, partlicuarly post processing, in the software. The manual doesn't really give recommendations so it requires a bit of trial and error to get the level of detail you need, without excessively huge file sizes.

To sum up, a great peice of hardware and pretty good software that I am sure will continue to improve. There is a bit of a learning curve, but great results can be obtained with a little bit of effort.

I bought the einstar because of reviews I read that it was reasonably good for both large scale handheld scanning, and small scale turn table scanning. The scanner works quite well, but struggles on objects that are geometric objects(lots of flat sides, even if a lot of detail) and objects with a lot of repetition. It seems that it loses its place a lot on objects with geometric repetition. That being said, we were able to get some impressively detailed scans of a skull with slow movements and consistent distance of the scanner. When trying to scan small objects on a turn table, we found the performance was not great. If geometry was missed, it required a full rotation before it would try again to pick up the detail. It seemed to lose its reference points a lot with the turn table, and we have yet to get a good scan with the turn table. All that being said, I definitely see that with some practice, this could be a fantastic hand held unit for the money. For those reasons I gave it for stars.

it was working yesterday, now I have 2 Brother printers/scanner, different model that I try to scan and upload the scan on dropbox and it fail. Does dropbox have server down or any upgrades happen in last 24-48h???

I resolved this issue with my Brother MFC-L3710CW unit by logging into the machine and changing the TLS setting to 1.1/1.2. (192.168.... in web browser). It works with Dropbox Brother app now. It's always work for the MS OneDrive Brother app. You will need your units password to login to the administrator side of the Brother unit. Find it on the rear of the unit by the power cord input. Hope this helps!

Is this using a funciton that's built-in to the scanner? If so, you'll need to reach out to Brother for assistance. Brother would have created their own connection to Dropbox using the Dropbox API, and only Brother would be able to support that.

Suddenly, scan to web into Dropbox didn't work anymore. Connection Error 03 on the display as soon as the scan usually is uploaded to Dropbox. Multiple MFC printers in different networks have the same issue. No network or printer setting was changed.

On one device I created a new Dropbox connection resulted in the same error at the end.

I'm having the exact same issue. Discovered it first last night, an hour or so before @hemzet wrote his last message here. Connection Error 03 saving to Dropbox, no settings changed. Using a Brother DCP-9020CDW. Internet says it's because of proxy settings, but all other features works just fine, including printing via wifi.

For example, if I scan a business card at an event I may want to direct this lead to our consumer or B2B teams however there is no option to pull in additonal contact properties only what is available on the card once saved. This would allow these leads to get pulled into the dedicated workflow based on this property instead of going back into the contact and then manually updating the contact type.

As for how to manage the contacts once you input them with the scanner, we can edit them once they're in and change properties and add them to lists. It may not be super fluid on mobile, but I've used the app to change properties. For example, if you plan ahead of time you could create an active list where the criteria is "added these dates by this user" so that anyone you add during an event gets put into a list. Then this list could trigger the workflow. Hopefully that helps spark an idea or two for you.

Hi Dan - your insights are very helpful! I'm in a boat similar to Melissa's and I think the way you set up an active list to pull anyone who has been imported via offline->business-card-scanner is great. I followed all of your steps and the problem is that this only works for a contact that has never been entered into the system (i.e. their true original source is from the business card). Occasionally we have sales reps going to meetups or events and talking with people for the first time, but it's not the first time they've ever been in contact with our business. As in, they may have visited our website in the past, attended a webinar, or even chatted with someone else, so they exist in the system. When we use the business card scanner app, and if a contact already exists, the business card scanner forces a merge. Once the merge happens, there is no trace of the business card scan being an original source. Do you have any ideas for how we can still capture leads/contact info from reps at events that may already exist in our system? Is there another way to pull the business-card-scanner property into a list other than Original Source?

Like you, I would have looked at "latest source" for the information. You could also maybe set up a list that looks at a recent update, like that merge, and if it's within the date of the event that would likely be your list of folks you met at the event.

I have the fi-7160 scanner installed and working, just thought I would share the experience and ask a follow-on question. At first the scanner driver was setup for blank page removal by default, and it took some looking to find out how to turn it off. (I thought it made more sense to do it via LF Scan where it was easier for users to tweak if necessary.) I had to launch the PaperStream Capture software and click the 'Config' icon on the toolbar to access the three default profiles. In the B&W default profile I had to set the Scanner Name from a dropdown, then I could click the Driver Profile button and under the Page options section could disable blank page detection. 152ee80cbc
