Your dog will need to be vaccinated against Rabies and Distemper/Parvovirus to participate in the class and to become a therapy dog. This is for your dog's safety and for the safety of other dogs in class. Other vaccines that are recommended (but not required) are Bordetella (protects against Kennel Cough), Leptospirosis, and Canine Influenza. There are many low-cost pet vaccine clinics, but I would recommend Valley Animal Center near Cedar and Dakota in Fresno, CA. Visit their clinic website HERE.

For therapy work, you will need to have your dog licensed in the city or county in which you live. For Fresno County residents, this can be done through Fresno Humane Animal Services. If you click HERE you can fill out the form on their website or can print a form to send through the mail. For an unaltered dog, the fee to license is $39. For altered dogs, the fee is $4.  If your dog has not been licensed or if your license has lapsed, you will also need to pay a $10 late fee. You will need to provide proof of your dog's current rabies vaccination to get your pet licensed. For residents in Fresno city, click HERE to license your dog through the CCSPCA. The fee there is $50 for an unaltered dog, $12 for an altered dog, and $10 for a late fee.

Due to the space constraints of the room, we can only accept the first seven dog/handler teams for each session. Beyond that number, please EMAIL US to be placed on a waiting list in the event of a cancellation. Be aware that you will need to provide proof of the required vaccines and license at the start of your first session. Please make a copy of these documents (or you can use the Bear Mountain Library copier at 10 cents per page) and turn in to our volunteers on your first day. You will also need to sign a registration form and liability waiver for us to use the Community Room when you arrive at your first class.
