Requirements for Judges
1. An applicant must pass a background check.
2. An applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
3. An applicant must not have been convicted of a felony or other crime of moral turpitude.
4. An ideal applicant:
a. for an MMA judge is a registered BMMAA judge and/or is currently licensed with their respective federations and working regularly as a Professional MMA Judge.
6. An applicant must have the ability to critically analyze and effectively score a amateur/professional contest of mixed martial arts by interpreting and applying the applicable rules for the event.
7. An applicant must have the ability to concentrate and focus on the bout without being distracted by the surroundings.
8. An applicant is required to arrive one (1) hour prior to the event, stay until the event is completed, and attend a debriefing meeting held at the conclusion of every event.
9. An applicant cannot have any direct affiliation with any unarmed combatant, manager, matchmaker, promoter or television network.
10. An applicant is under a continuing duty to maintain suitability to be licensed as a judge and must update the authority of any changes to personal information including arrests, charges or indictments. Failure to report any arrest, detainment, charge, indictment, or conviction that has not been expunged or sealed by a court, whether a misdemeanor or felony, is cause for denial of licensure, revocation of the license or disciplinary action against the applicant.
11. The BMMAA reserve the right to add additional criteria as the need arises.
Requirements for Referess
1. An applicant must pass a background check.
2. An applicant must be at least 21 years of age.

4. An ideal candidate:
a. for a MMA referee’s license is a registered BMMAA Referee and/or is currently licensed with their respective federations and working regularly as a Professional MMA Referee.
6. An applicant must pass an annual physical examination.
7. An applicant must have the ability to quickly and critically analyze unarmed combat and be prepared to step in and stop a bout in order to protect the safety and health of the unarmed combatants while interpreting and applying the applicable rules for the event.
8. An applicant must have the ability to concentrate and focus on the bout without being distracted by the surroundings.
9. An applicant is required to arrive one (1) hour prior to the event, stay until the event is completed, and attend a debriefing meeting held at the conclusion of every event.

The following syllabus shall be covered during the course:
