BMCC Women in Computing was founded to celebrate, inform, advocate for, and support women in computing at BMCC. Our goals include building community through organizing events, facilitating mentorship between students, professors, and industry professionals, and career-development resources, and addressing the gender disparity. We aim to provide safe and friendly spaces for social interaction and professional dialogue among peers.
ACM-W was one of the first groups to be established dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in computing professions. ACM-W advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women. ACM-W warmly welcomes the participation of all individuals who are interested in advancing ACM’s mission and core values. https://women.acm.org/
ACM-W is a part of ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery. ACM is the world's largest educational and scientific computing society. It delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. https://www.acm.org/about-acm
Chapters are the "local neighborhoods" of ACM. Professional and Student chapters worldwide serve as nodes of activity for ACM members and the computing community at large, offering seminars, lectures, and the opportunity to meet peers and experts in many fields of interest.
