Edirne is located in the Thrace region of Türkiye, near the borders with Greece and Bulgaria. While Edirne does not have an airport, it is easily reachable via Istanbul or direct road/train connections from neighboring countries.
Most international participants are recommended to fly into Istanbul Airport (IST) (European side) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) (Asian side).
From Istanbul Airport (IST) — Recommended:
Direct Intercity Buses: Regular long-distance buses (e.g., İstanbul Seyahat) operate directly from the Bus Platforms (-2 floor) of Istanbul Airport to Edirne Central Bus Terminal (Edirne Otogarı).
Duration: Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic.
Tickets: Can be purchased online in advance or at the airport bus ticket desks.
From Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW):
Take the Havaist / Havabus shuttle or Metro (M4 line) to central intercity bus stations in Istanbul (such as Esenler Bus Terminal / Büyük İstanbul Otogarı or Alibeyköy Cep Otogarı).
From Esenler or Alibeyköy, frequent buses depart to Edirne around the clock (every 30–60 minutes).
Duration: Total journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours.
From Greece:
By Road/Bus: Regular bus and taxi services operate from Alexandroupoli, Thessaloniki, and Orestiada to Edirne via the Kastanies / Pazarkule or Kipi / İpsala border gates.
From Bulgaria:
By Road/Bus: Edirne is located right across the Kapitan Andreevo / Kapıkule border gate, easily accessible from Svilengrad, Plovdiv, and Sofia.
By Train:
The international overnight passenger train connecting Sofia/Bucharest and Istanbul stops directly at Edirne Train Station (Edirne Garı).
From Edirne Bus Terminal (Otogar) to the Venue / City Center:
Local Minibuses (ETUS): Regular city minibuses run frequently from the terminal directly to the city center and the Balkan Campus.
Taxis: Yellow taxis are available 24/7 right outside the terminal.
Payment Note: In local city minibuses (ETUS), contactless credit/debit cards are accepted (or single-use cards can be purchased). For taxis, cash (Turkish Lira) is commonly preferred, though some accept card payments—it is recommended to confirm with the driver in advance.
