Benjamin Marx

Welcome to my website!

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at Sciences Po in Paris.

My research interests are in political economy and development. Broadly speaking, I study the economic determinants of political behavior in developing countries, including Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Indonesia. I am also interested in understanding the root political causes of urban poverty. I completed my PhD in Economics from MIT in 2018.

I also co-organize the PEPES seminar, a joint seminar between Sciences Po and PSE. Come visit us if you find yourself in the greater Paris area!
