UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF CAMP

Everybody has to take shifts in both the cafe and camp maintenance.

Everyone should always keep a look out for MOOP (matter out of place). Pick up any trash you see on the ground.

In addition to shifts, everybody should work to keep common spaces clean, even if it’s not your mess. Please return any tools, bikes, or anything that's obviously out of place.

When trash/recycling are full, put bags in the storage spot.

Keep an eye on our structures and make sure they are tied down properly and won’t blow away.

Leave No Trace - take ALL your personal belongings when leaving the campsite.

IMPORTANT

Please sign up to volunteer shifts on the playa. There are two types of shifts to sign up for:

1) Two 3-hour cafe shifts to run the cafe

2) MInimum two more shifts throughout the week performing camp duties such as heating up dinner, cleaning dishes, etc.

SIGN UP SHEET TO BE OPENED 1st AUGUST. SAMPLE 2022 FORM HERE

POWER

Generated from a combination of generators and solar. Power is only available for charging small devices like phones, but not large ones (i.e. no ACs). Many vans have small solar arrays and might be willing to share.

WATER

Use water sparingly! Water is delivered to a large water tank (cafe + camp drinking water + showers). Showers and kitchen water will be provided via foot pumps

GREY WATER

Dirty water CANNOT be dumped on the ground, it must be collected into the grey water tank. Kitchen sink is a good place to dump grey water, but it must be regularly emptied (part of shifts)

TRASH

Leaving zero trace is a crucial factor all camps are evaluated on. Everyone can play their role by always keeping a look out for MOOP (matter out of place). This includes trash on the ground like plastic, furs, hair, paper etc.

We are still working on being more conscious on separating and recycling our trash. Currently we are dividing them into (i) landfill (ii) cans (iii) burnables (iv) compost. When leaving the playa, everybody must help clean the kitchen and take home bags of trash and recycling.

KITCHEN & FOOD

Hot meal is served every day around 7pm. We provide limited dry snacks (pretzels, cliff bars etc) and grillable food (hamburger, sausages…). So everyone can expect to get ~1.5 meals per day from camp. Kitchen is available for camp members to prepare their own food 24/7 (gas stove, pots, pans, kitchen utensils. NO microwave).

Veg and GF dinner options will be available. If you have very specific food preferences, bring your own food to supplement.

We also encourage everyone to bring food and drinks to share!  Some coolers and shelves will be marked “communal” to share food with others. Please do not put chocolate or cheese in camp coolers.

LIVING STRUCTURES

Everyone must bring their own sleeping structure. If tent camping, cots are recommended to keep your face off the ground. Camp only provides a large shade structure to put over tents to make them more comfortable. We also have a small number of coleman 4p tents for people coming from overseas.

BIKE & RENTALS

Please bring your own bikes or rent them from this org and self-coordinate the bike delivery to our camp. There will be an allocated area for bike parking. We do not provide storage for bikes.
