This Privacy Policy describes how the Blur Photo - Face & Background app (“the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information when you use our application.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address to use the App. We do not collect, store, upload, or share your photos or images. All image editing and processing is performed entirely on your device.
2. FACE DETECTION AND FACE DATA
The App does not collect, store, or share any face data or biometric information.
2.1 How Face Detection Works
The App offers a face blur feature that uses Apple's built-in Vision framework (VNDetectFaceRectanglesRequest) to detect the location of faces within a photo. This detection is performed entirely on your device (on-device processing) using Apple's native APIs. No images or face data are sent to our servers or any third-party servers for this purpose.
2.2 What Face Data Is Processed
The only face data processed is the bounding box coordinates (rectangular position data) of detected faces within a photo. These coordinates are used solely to generate a blur mask that is applied over the face regions in the image.
2.3 What Face Data Is NOT Collected
The App does NOT:
- Collect, store, or create facial recognition data or face embeddings
- Collect, store, or create biometric data or facial geometry maps
- Identify or attempt to identify individuals from face data
- Collect facial landmarks, expressions, or any other facial characteristics
- Use face data for any purpose other than applying a visual blur effect
2.4 Storage and Retention of Face Data
Face bounding box coordinates exist only temporarily in the device's active memory (RAM) during the editing session. They are never written to disk, saved to a file, stored in a database, or persisted in any form. When the user exits the editor or closes the App, this data is automatically released from memory and permanently discarded.
2.5 Sharing of Face Data
Face data is never shared with any third party. It is not transmitted over the internet, not sent to our servers, not sent to any analytics service, and not shared with any advertising network.
2.6 Person Segmentation
The App also uses Apple's Vision framework (VNGeneratePersonSegmentationRequest) to separate people from backgrounds for background blur effects. This segmentation is also performed entirely on-device. The resulting segmentation mask exists only in memory during the editing session and is not stored, transmitted, or shared.
3. PHOTOS AND CAMERA ACCESS
3.1 Photo Library
The App requests access to your photo library so you can select photos to edit. We do not upload, copy, or transmit your photos to any server. Edited photos can be saved back to your photo library or to the App's local storage on your device, at your discretion.
3.2 Camera
The App may request camera access so you can take photos directly for editing. Photos taken through the App are processed locally and are not transmitted to any server.
3.3 Local File Storage
The App allows you to save edited images to a local folder on your device (within the App's sandboxed Documents directory). These files remain entirely on your device and are not synced to any cloud service or transmitted to any server. You can delete these files at any time from within the App.
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App uses the following third-party services:
4.1 Firebase Authentication (Google)
We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to generate an anonymous user identifier for managing in-app subscriptions. No personal information (name, email, etc.) is collected or associated with this identifier. Firebase may collect basic device and usage information as described in Google's Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
4.2 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat receives the anonymous Firebase user identifier and purchase transaction data from Apple. RevenueCat does not receive your photos, face data, or any image-related information. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/
4.3 Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads)
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect and use data for ad personalization as described in Google's Privacy Policy. We request your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any tracking for personalized advertising occurs. If you decline tracking, non-personalized ads will be shown. Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
None of these third-party services receive your photos, images, face data, or any image processing data from the App.
5. ADVERTISING AND TRACKING
The App uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework to request your permission before any cross-app tracking for advertising purposes. You can change your tracking preference at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
If you allow tracking, an advertising identifier (IDFA) may be shared with advertising networks to deliver personalized ads. If you deny tracking, only non-personalized (contextual) ads will be displayed.
6. IN-APP PURCHASES
The App offers a premium subscription ("Blur Photo Pro") that removes ads and unlocks additional features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information. Purchase history and subscription status are managed through RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier.
7. DATA SECURITY
Since all image processing (including face detection) occurs entirely on your device and we do not collect personal data, the risk of data exposure is minimal. Locally saved edited images are stored within the App's sandboxed environment, which is protected by iOS security measures.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
Since we do not collect personal data, there is generally no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. If you wish to remove locally stored edited images, you can do so directly within the App's "My Files" section or by deleting the App from your device.
10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
