For July, there were only 2 votes on the poll, and the poem choices were different: "dear dandelion," and "happy birthday, glad you're here.". Therefore, I had to choose between the two, and I chose "dear dandelion," as the poem of the month. To those who wanted to read the other poem, it’s on this entry: https://www.bluepuffin.net/2024/07/my-rat-heaven-and-more-poetry.html.
dear dandelion,
dandelion, you're on spotlight
we want to see you shine tonight
not “shine”, but you know what I mean
it’s June, you know you're the queen
puff yourself so I can blow and wish
for a good future, vibes are yellowish
thousand trucks are crossing the bridge
may empathy fulfill one's wish
there's no need to hide from the rain
it is here to help you grow and grow
trust me: you will it all sustain,
remember, the pain will go.
you have the sun, you have the rain
where’s your reason to feel pain?
if something hurts, don't feel afraid
the trucks are carrying your aid
the eating bugs will disappear
may the sky or not be clear
soon the ladybirds are here
to help you, dandelion dear
ending are June's weeks
dandelions no more on peak
and thought you might die,
and though you will die,
you gave all you had to supply.
"BluePuffin (also known as me!!! :33) wrote this poem on July 22.
I wanted to write something related to the countryside or flowers, so I chose dandelions and wrote a poem as if I was speaking to one. The poem is mainly meant to give hope, and though not obvious, I used “trucks” initially to refer to the aid trucks coming in Gaza to alleviate the suffering of Gazans, thus the trucks symbolising hope. I also meant to make clear that we should embrace both the good things and the bad things in your life."
