Need help downsizing? organizing? cleaning up the mess? keeping things tidy?
.... delivering a pile of things to ReUse? assembling your latest purchase? weeding the garden? getting your computer to talk to your printer? deciding if it's safe to click on a certain link in an email? preparing some meals? grooming the cat? getting to an appointment?
Basically, all the every-day activities that I do for my father, I can also do for you or for a loved one.
I bring my own cleaning supplies (because I don't do well with perfumes and chemicals and I love my HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner).
Most clients now schedule me for a regular visit either every month, every two weeks, or every week, but I do have the option to schedule an "ad hoc" visit now and then.
I have 13 years experience cleaning, including the years that I cleaned for an agency in Belgium, and I can provide many references.
As of 2024, my rate for new residential clients is $50/hr. I'm happy to "grandfather in" previous clients at $45/hr if they wish to continue with me. I do have a heart of mush and can be talked into about anything for a good cause (including barters). It doesn't feel nice to raise my rates, and I haven't done so since 2022, but my bills are also going up, and NYSEG won't let me pay my electric bill with tomatoes and zucchini.
I prefer gigs that are at least 3 hours long, because once I go to the trouble of loading my car and driving somewhere, it feels silly to reload the car and drive back an hour or two later. But, for a good cause... as I said before... and my regular 2-hour clients are grandfathered in, of course.
Sometimes I can fit in a one-off deep clean when someone is moving out or moving in, but I charge $60/hr for these kinds of jobs, because they typically involve extra planning, long days and intensive work on refrigerators, ovens, showers, etc. With a move-in/move-out, I don't get the option of putting off cleaning some windows or behind the fridge until the following week, because it ALL has to be done. Deep cleans lead to a lot of aching muscles at the end of the day (although they can also be fun).
And lastly... for some gigs (especially big ones), I like to bring my friend Erin Caruth to help me get all the work done in a reasonable amount of time. I am a community organizer doing cleaning work on the side to pay the bills, and similarly Erin is an artist who does cleaning work on the side to pay the bills. She is not my employee (heaven forbid, that extra paperwork headache would destroy me) so when we come together, we ask the client to write us two checks. She is also available for solo work, which you would need to schedule directly with her.
