What to expect
Judo is a traditional Japanese martial art and Olympic sport focused on balance, leverage, and control rather than kicking or punching. Our class is split between the two major components: throwing techniques and groundwork (mat work). We begin class with bowing-in and a warm-up. The first half of the class is dedicated to mat work, usually focusing on learning or improving pins, chokes, and armbars. After a quick water break, the second half of class is focused on learning or improving throws. We wrap up with a final bow-out.
