Mable
Ethel
Mable and Ethel are first ladies of 2024 to join the coop! These beautiful hawk-like ladies are Ameraucanas that lay beautiful blue eggs.
These 4 little beauties are Creamed Leg Bars. They were born February 25th, 2024 and currently live in my office in a brood box and will be integrated with the rest of the gang in a few months. We won't expect eggs from them until around August and they will be blue.
Rosie is a lavender grey Orpington, born March 2023. She loves head scratches, buggies and her mum. Rosie is our head chicken and keeps the rest of the girls in line.
Babs is a Rhode Island Red, born March 2023. She likes buggies and chasing grasshoppers. Babs is a great layer of large brown eggs.
Joyce is one of our Skilies and we just love her sweet little face. She was born May 2023. Joyce isn't our best layer, but her eggs are just as adorable as she is.
Pat is our other Silkie, and Joyce's sister. She was born May 2023. Pat is a tomboy who likes digging holes and dust baths.
We'll sum all three up in one, because honestly, I have a hard time telling the difference between them! John surprised me with 3 little black Tractor Supply specials in May 2023. These ladies are great layers of white and brown eggs. Their favorite pastime is keeping a watch over the cats, who just want to sleep in the coop.
It's been a dream since I was a child to live in the countryside with a bunch of animals; cats, dogs, chickens, goats, sheep, a pet pony, you name it and I wanted it. Fast forward 40 years and here we are, in the countryside with a bunch of cats and a couple of dogs. In March of 2023, after a lot a research, it was time to add chickens to the mix. I'd dropped the idea out there to my husband, John, and he was on board, so off to the local ranch stores I went. I brought home a selection of chicks, and while they were in a brooder, John set to work on building the coop. The Henporium was competed in April 2023 and a few months later we were gifted with our first egg.
