As a child, Heath often visited his parents who lived outside of Knoxville, and on the drive, he'd soak up the sights and sounds of Appalachia. Struck by the mountains, his imagination ran wild as he envisioned that they were the backs of dinosaurs.

For his latest album, Heath wanted to write character-driven songs with their own stories, but he needed a framework. He conceptualized the album theme after a friend recited a C.S. Lewis quote about Blue Mountains.

Stemming from a want to preserve the dwindling unique oral traditions of the Blue Ridge Mountain back-country region, Eric Davidson, Paul Newman and Caleb Finch performed field recordings of songs that exemplified the evolution of ballads in the region, creating an anthology of music that characterized the musical mountain traditions. Originating from folk music of the British Isles, many of the songs are performed with little or no instrumental accompaniment. These beautiful archaic folk melodies have retained their roots in the ballad and lament tradition, sung here by both men and women (traditionally ballads were sung only by women) with occasional lively banjo accompaniments.

Yes and no. The mountains themselves are not blue, but they show a blue haze that occurs due to the way your eye observes a dark, solid object. When viewed from a distance, the light scatters across the mountains and the isoprene released into the atmosphere by its thick vegetation to create a blue haze.

The Blue Ridge Mountains have the highest mountains the eastern half of North America south of Baffin Island. The highest peak is 6,684 feet at Mount Mitchell, located in North Carolina. 39 of the peaks are over 6,000 feet. The average elevation for most of the mountain range is 2,000 to 4,000 feet.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are named for their apparent blue color. The name likely came from early pioneers when the mountain range became an important dividing line between colonial territory and Native American territory.

The Blue Ridge Mountain Song is a song written by Alan Jackson and published in The Bluegrass Album. The song tells of a tragic love affair between a young man and a young woman, who marry while singing a Blue Ridge Mountain song. Tragically the young woman dies, and the grieving husband sings the song in remembrance of his young wife.

With exposed rafter ceiling and gorgeous carpeting, the 4,500-square foot event space offers an astonishing amount of room for all wedding guests. Originally intended for private vacation homes, The Blue Mountain Ski Resort opened itself to the public and established itself as a hallmark among Pennsylvania Wedding Venues.

During Cocktail Hour, I pulled the lovely couple away to do portraits on the massive expanse of area that the Blue Mountain Resort offers. An additional impressive 5,400-square-foot space is attached to the venue. But, forgoing that, we chose to keep them among the mountains.

Taking in the mountain air is a refreshing sense. Especially after a couple has just vowed to one another. It allows a sense of peace to flow over them and a moment to relax before they head back to their reception.

At one point we found ourselves walking along the cliffside and I was able to capture them looking off the cliff face as they took in the horizon beyond them. A truly romantic moment, that just showed that they were ready to take on the world with one another.

Afterward, the rest of the wedding guests took to the floor and before we knew it, a party of dancing, drinking, and celebration broke out all around us. This dancing went on for hours. With hit song after hit song until finally it was time to do their exit.

CBN.com - Contemporary Christian music artist Brandon Heath fondly recalls visiting the Smokey Mountain area of Tennessee as a young boy. It's that scenery that helped inspire his new album, Blue Mountain. The imaginary mountain sets up the 11-track project, with each song telling the story of different characters living in the hills.

At first I thought about calling the record "Blue Mountain People", but that sounded like Smurfs. So I was like, "Nah, I can't call it 'Blue Mountain People'." So I just called it "Blue Mountain". And I started writing about people that live on Blue Mountain that would give you a closer look of what it actually is.

Growing up, going to the Smokies on the weekends with my mom and my step-dad, it was always interesting to go into that region and find the people that live there. It's not just a tourist place. There are actually people that live there in those hills. I wanted to write about them, tell their story.

BH: There are a couple of guys that I wrote it with, Lee Miller and Ross Copperman. Lee just came in with the idea for "Jesus in Disguise". As I was writing [Blue Mountain], I would always try to come up with a character in my head to use as a sounding board for the song. I thought about this old blind man that lives up on Blue Mountain, and a young man comes to him. He says, "You know, I keep hearing about Jesus, but I can't see Him. I'm having a really hard time believing in someone that I can't see." The blind man, he has a Morgan Freeman kind of voice, and he says, "Follow the way that you might have never realized that you heard or seen Jesus." 152ee80cbc
