Barts and The London Students’ Trust (BLST) are a group of alumni who would like to give you, BL students and student groups, further financial support; supporting you to run campaigns and provide opportunities that will positively impact the student experience. We are a body distinct from Barts and The London Students’ Association (BLSA) and Barts and The London Alumni Association (BATLAA), however we work in tandem with these associations in order to provide financial support.
Financial Transparency: a little bit of history
As you may already know Barts and The London was not always one entity - it existed as the Medical College of St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The London Medical College up until the two colleges merged officially in 1995, alongside Queen Mary and Westfield College. As was the case, the student unions of both medical colleges then merged to form the BLSA that has grown to support students to this day. In the process of BLSA’s creation, the accounts from the student union of St. Barts were used to form the current association. However there were some leftover funds linked with The London Student Union that were unused. This Trust has been formed to enable students to access these funds now and in the future.
