Heritage speakers who speak a high level of Spanish already will be completed an Independent Study track this year. The goal is for students to improve their writing and speaking skills enough to be able to receive test credit for as many courses as possible by the end of the year.

Los hablantes que tienen español como una “lengua materna” participarán en Estudios Independientes este año escolar. El objetivo es que los estudiantes mejoren sus habilidades de escritura y habla lo suficiente como para poder recibir crédito por tantos cursos posibles, determinados por los exámenes de fin de año.

Step 2: Activity Menu (bilingual/bilíngüe) Each week you will be expected to choose at least four activities from the choices below. Cada semana se esperará que completes un mínimo de cuatro actividades de las opciones abajo.

    1. Complete Lessons on Main Site : (Novice-Intermediate) The lesson to be completed in current week will be indicated on main site.

    2. Original Writing: (All Levels) You can use StoryBird or create your story in your own format or Students of the World to find your own Spanish-speaking penpal.

    3. Reading Response: (Intermediate-Advanced) Check out a book, newspaper or magazine from our Spanish class library and complete the reading response sheet, or use the Children's Library website to find a book in Spanish that interests you. Readlang.com is another great

    4. Inmersión Cultural: (Intermediate-Advanced) Use the ver-taal site, full of primary sources in Spanish from across the world, to further refine your listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish.

  1. Cursos Universitarios de EdX: (Advanced-Superior- 2x per week) Look through the Course Catalog and choose your favorite EdX course for the semester, or search for your own EdX course in Spanish from the main site. This is the most challenging of all of the options, as these are free college courses being taught by real college professors in Spain, Mexico, and Colombia.
