BLOCKWISE PRIVACY POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION

BlockWise is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android app collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

Core Principle: BlockWise is privacy-first. Your data never leaves your device. We do not track, collect unnecessary data, or serve ads.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

BlockWise collects only the minimum data necessary to function:

What We Store (Locally on Your Device):

• App names and package names of installed apps (for your blocking list)

• Apps you choose to block and their blocking modes

• Block schedules and timing configurations

• Focus statistics (blocks avoided, time saved)

• Encrypted passcode for settings protection

• Display preferences and settings

What We DO NOT Collect:

• Personal information (name, email, phone, address)

• Location data

• Contact lists or phone numbers

• Call logs or SMS history

• Browsing history

• Behavioral tracking

• Device identifiers

• IP addresses

• Financial information

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

All data is used exclusively for:

• Detecting when you launch blocked apps

• Displaying countdown timers (Friction mode)

• Enforcing time-based block schedules

• Showing your Focus Dashboard statistics

• Protecting your settings with encryption

• Processing donations via Razorpay and Ko-fi

4. ANDROID PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

BlockWise requests three Android permissions. All are used only for blocking functionality:

INTERNET Permission

• Purpose: Process donations through Razorpay (India) and Ko-fi (Global)

• When used: Only when you click donate

• Data sent: Only payment information to payment providers

• Note: We never store your payment information

QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES Permission

• Purpose: Show you all installed apps available to block

• When used: On app launch and when refreshing your app list

• Data sent: None (processed locally)

• Note: We cache app names and package IDs only on your device

ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE Permission

• Purpose: Detect when you try to launch blocked apps

• When used: Continuously while app is enabled

• Data collected: Only the package name of apps you launch

• Important clarification:

  • Used ONLY to detect app launches

  • NOT used to track your behavior

  • NOT used to collect personal data

  • NOT used for ads or analytics

5. DATA STORAGE & SECURITY

Where Your Data Lives:

• All data is stored locally on your device only

• No data is uploaded to servers

• No cloud synchronization

• No backups to Google Drive

How We Protect It:

• Encrypted passcode protection (SHA-256)

• No third-party analytics services

• No advertising SDKs

• No tracking libraries

• No external scripts

What We Cannot Access:

• We cannot see your blocked apps list

• We cannot see your statistics

• We cannot see your device information

• We cannot track your behavior

• We have zero access to your data

6. PAYMENT PROCESSING

Razorpay (India): When you donate via Razorpay, your payment is processed by Razorpay Payments Private Limited. We do not store card details or payment information. You receive a transaction ID confirmation only.

Ko-fi (Global): When you donate via Ko-fi, your payment is processed by Ko-fi through Stripe. We do not store payment information. You receive a transaction ID confirmation only.

7. DATA SHARING

BlockWise does NOT share, sell, or transfer your data to anyone.

Your information is never shared with:

• Advertising networks

• Data brokers

• Analytics companies

• Social media platforms

• Marketing firms

• Any external service (except payment processors for donations)

8. YOUR CONTROL

You have complete control over your data:

• View all your data in the app (Focus tab, Add Blocks tab, Settings)

• Modify or delete blocking rules anytime

• Reset statistics with one click

• Uninstall the app to permanently delete all data

• No backups means data cannot be recovered after uninstall

9. PARENTAL CONTROLS

BlockWise includes parental controls. Parents can:

• Set a passcode to protect settings

• Configure which apps are blocked for their children

• All data remains on the parent's device

• No data is collected directly from children

Recommendation: Parents should never share their passcode with children.

10. DATA RETENTION

• While installed: Data remains on your device

• After uninstall: All data is permanently deleted

• No cloud backup: Data is not backed up by default

11. PRIVACY COMPLIANCE

BlockWise achieves compliance with global privacy regulations through our privacy-first design:

• GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): We comply by collecting zero personal data. We do not process personal information, which eliminates most GDPR obligations. Users have complete control over their data and can delete it anytime by uninstalling the app.

• CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act): We do not collect personal information or sensitive data covered by CCPA. Users have rights to view, delete, and control their data.

• LGPD (Brazilian Data Protection Law): We comply by storing all data locally and not sharing with third parties.

• Google Play Store Policies: All permissions are justified and used only for app blocking functionality.

• Android Privacy Standards: We follow Android OS privacy best practices and security guidelines.
