Over the course of a few months, I've accidentally come across multiple hidden/weird versions of various blink albums and tracks. Most of these are the international versions of albums, meaning they contain bonus tracks, however, if you're not in that country, you will not be able to play them. They appear greyed out in the track list.

blink-182/Untitled - UK Version - This is the UK version of the Untitled album, meaning it contains Not Now as a track. If you're not in the UK, though, you probably won't be able to play it and will just have to stick with the Greatest Hits version.

blink-182/Untitled - Explicit Explicit Version - This is easily the weirdest version of Untitled I've came across. For some reason, it clarifies that it is the explicit version twice in the album name. The contrast is much higher than normal in the cover art, "Go" is completely capitalized, and Violence ends with "Album Version (Edited)".

Lost & Found: blink-182 - I'm not even totally sure what this is... Some weird compilation that was released in 2007 that contains Carousel, Dammit, ATST, The Rock Show, and STFTK. (Shout out to u/Light_Speed15 for pointing this out to me!).

I just realized today that there's two versions of Dammit, the one on Dude Ranch, and one from "Greatest Hits" which I'm assuming was the single version. Why do these two tracks sound different? The one on greatest hits sounds more remastered, but it's to the point where it sounds almost as if its a cover. I'm confused.

Serendipitously, Mutt would prove to be a pivotal track in blink's eventual big-time breakthrough. First cut with original drummer Scott Raynor as a contribution to the soundtrack of seminal teen sex comedy American Pie (the band even cameoing in the infamous 'webcam scene'), it brought them into the orbit of producer Jerry Finn, who would in turn be invited aboard and contribute heavily to the mainstream-conquering formula of Enema Of The State. Fixated on a couple whose attraction seems to know no standards (love being blind and all that), it becomes the ultimate vehicle for blink's bawdy humour. 'She smokes a dozen and he doesn't seem to notice the smell / He took the seat off his own bike because the way that it felt / He wants to bone, this I know, she is ready to blow.' Hard as it may be to believe, for a generation of goofballs, those lyrics actually felt kinda sweet way back when.

A sort-of sequel to Enema Of The State standout Adam's Song, Stay Together For The Kids again found blink playing evocatively on the high contrast between blustering juvenilia and very real adolescent anxiety. Opening with a clean, melancholic melody and continuing through a stripped-back composition, the lyrics tap earnestly into Mark and (particularly) Tom's painful experiences of parental divorce. 'Their anger hurts my ears,' they plead, calling to mind an almost childlike sense of helplessness and vulnerability. 'Been running strong for seven years / Rather than fix the problems, they never solve them / It makes no sense at all.' Gently heartbreaking, still.

The fourth and final single from the Untitled arrived with a greater sense of creative freedom, unfolding on its own terms, its straightforwardly romantic lyrics afloat on a contagious swell of layered guitars, nu-wave synthesisers and one of Tom's all-time great vocal performances. Indeed, all three members of the band commented on release that the song reflected their rich 1980s influences more than anything contemporary. There's an irony in that as this was the clearest signpost for the pop-punk trail blink would continue to blaze. The three-panelled, Joseph Kahn-directed music video, shot in a studio space normally used by Australian children's band The Wiggles and featuring pop singer Sophie Monk, remains one of their most artful.

blink-182's Greatest Hits is a collection of tracks from Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch, Enema of the State, The Mark, Tom & Travis Show, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, blink-182 and more. The album also sports two bonus items: "Not Now" (an outtake from their 2003 self-titled album) and "Another Girl Another Planet," which served as the theme to the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers, starring drummer Travis Barker. 2LP.

The two highest-profile summer tours belong to Madonna (MCI Center, June 13 and 14) and Prince (MCI Center, Aug. 12,13 and 14), both of whom are building shows around their greatest hits, giving the people what they want. Madonna's "Re-Invention Tour" is a million-dollar extravaganza with a lot of costume changes, an electric chair, and a lot of political sentiment and antiwar statements, including a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine."

Meanwhile, Prince's "Musicology" tour is supposedly the last one on which he'll be doing many of his classic hits, and fans should know that because of spiritual concerns as a Jehovah's Witness, he's not doing his salacious oldies. But that leaves a lot of material in this, the 20th anniversary of "Purple Rain." e24fc04721
