EDWIN FOX PROJECT MAY 2026
In late 2025, the Blenheim Family History Group began a project to identify as many immigrants as possible from the Edwin Fox who landed and settled in or spent some time in Marlborough to discover where they came from prior to leaving England. We are starting with passenger lists and researching their names in public records. We plan to identify no more than the people who immigrated, and their parents and any children born in New Zealand.
Descendants can then use that information to do further research of their own. There will, of course, be some limitations to the project and we acknowledge it will not contain the families of every person believed to have come to New Zealand on the Edwin Fox. This is mainly due to the way passenger lists were compiled.
Some contain only heads of families so matching up known family groups which were aboard is a challenge. Some give no clue as to where the immigrates were from [while another will say a country, for example Ireland, Scotland, or somewhere in Europe, and another might name a county in their country of origin]. Some passengers may come from places where records are sparse or not online.

KAITUNA CEMETERY MAY 2026
The Blenheim Family History Group has really "dug deep" to update the records of the Kaituna Cemetery! Its been a labour of love, with the team spending six months transcribing and photographing headstones, then cross - referencing them with the original burial records. Their hard work has paid off, with copies going to the Trustees of Kaituna Cemetery, Renwick Museum and the Blenheim Family History Group.
Updated records of Kaituna Cemetery were presented by the Blenheim Family History Group to the trustees at an informal function held on Sunday, May 24, at the Renwick Museum.
The event was part of Marlborough Heritage Week and was attended by 25 people, including six members of the BFHG, trustees of the Kaituna and Upper Wairau Cemeteries, and interested members of the public.
A clear file folder containing photos of the cemetery, headstone transcripts, memorial texts, and a plot plan of those interred at Kaituna was handed over by project lead Wendy Tait to Margaret Boyce.
An identical folder will be kept at the Blenheim Family History Group rooms at Brayshaw Park for research queries. If you are interested in anyone buried here please contact us via our email.
Appreciation is expressed to Harcourts Real Estate for providing aerial photographs of the cemetery using a drone.
The photos below show Wendy presenting the folder to Margaret and to the assembly.
