In my Engineering Design Methodology course, our class partnered with a local animal shelter, Austin Pets Alive, to design and manufacture wheelchairs for dogs with hind leg amputations and paralysis.
My role in this project was to design the wheels, legs, and axles of the wheelchair using SolidWorks and Onshape.
Preliminary prototype made of laser cut wood and 3D printed PLA components

Knowing that the mass of our dog was 55lbs, our wheelchair would need to support about 60% of the dog's weight, and that we wanted our safety factor to be greater than 2, I was able to simulate a load of 300N along the axle to determine whether the axles would be able to support the weight of the dog.
