When I was going for my MBA at Elmhurst University I took a marketing class that looked into Amazon buying Whole Foods. The PowerPoint you see dives directly into that. It will show an in-depth look into what Whole Foods is. How Whole Foods got started, where it can be found, what is the customer base, how the company has grown, the uniqueness of the store, plus its strengths/weaknesses. This PowerPoint shows my skills with research, marketing, writing and my PP skills. More importantly, it shows my recommendations for an already great store. This would be showing off my consulting skills in leadership and marketing. (Feel free to click the page for an in-depth look.)
This PowerPoint is an in-depth look into one of the biggest disorders that this country faces, which no one thinks or knows about... Sleep Apnea. This PP comes from my time in Respiratory Therapy School. It will cover the prevalence of the disorder, which around 50 to 70 million adults have. The different categories are covered in the disorder and the definition. Plus, how it is diagnosed. I will say the PP goes into a lot of depth, but it is something that is not talked about among adults. It should be because the side effects lead to heart problems that if not treated can lead to a long list of issues. I think this is one of the best PowerPoints I have made throughout my educational career. It was very well-researched and put together in a great way. I also presented this to my class, doctors, and professors, which went over very well. (Feel free to click the page for an in-depth look.)
The COACH PowerPoint comes from my time at Elmhurst University. I had to come up with a brand-new product that would help me with my work at the time. Then put a marketing PowerPoint together and present it. I was very proud of my marketing and graphic skills presented in this PowerPoint. Right from the Introduction page with the colors and cropped football player. I was also happy with the amount of time I put into researching competitors and pricing for the product. In the end, I feel that I theoretically invented a great product that could help coaches input data faster. This showed off my skills in marketing, graphic design, and my ability to think outside the box. (Feel free to click the page for an in-depth look.)
If you played and or are a fan of football you know about concussions and the hot topic it has been over the last decade or so. For a thesis, I put together this paper on concussions. The introduction paragraph alone I am proud of... who knew that Teddy Roosevelt tried to shut down football at one point. This was the guy who got shot and still did a speech.... he thought football was too dangerous. This paper goes into a vast array of topics on concussions and is over fifteen pages long. It is one of my best-written works and one of the ones I had the most fun writing. It also had at one point around FIFTY CITATIONS... you want to talk about doing a lot of research. Getting Them, Keeping Them, and Educating Them.... a company as a whole has many goals and one of the big ones is being successful. The biggest way to do this is through recruiting, retaining, and selecting employees. It all starts with the correct recruiting process and working through how to go about doing that correctly because you want to bring in the right people for the correct jobs. Once they are brought in selecting the correct place for them to be, because if they are put in the role that suits them, their potential won’t be reached. Once this long process is accomplished we can then go about the hard task of keeping them around and the different ways a company can go about doing this. If a company does these all in sync and to the point they will be successful and thrive in the business world. This is an area as a boss now I think about and reflect on all the time. I just love how I wrote this paper years and years ago and it still is relatable to my work today... that is some good writing. (Feel free to click the page for an in-depth look.)
One of the hardest parts of school is group work. This paper on Repairing Toyota's Reputation was a group project I worked on in my Master's program at Elmhurst University. I believe it shows that when you work well with a team and over-communicate plus are organized great things can be accomplished. I bet no one thinks about how far Toyota had to come when they took over Lexus in 2009. They just think about the great cars they produce today. This paper goes into how they became the great company they are today. I would have to say the strategy section is the best part of the essay. A lot can be learned from Toyota's past for all you business folks out there. (Feel free to click the page for an in-depth look.)
Everyone has those classes that really test you mentally and mentally and mentally again. It goes after a part of your brain that you may barely use or that is untapped. Well, this Excel document shows work from a class that just did that to me. Finance, excel, and accounting are all areas that I am not a savant in, but after this class work, I became at least an amateur. I highly suggest you look through this excel document yourself and try some of the problems. I believe once you do this the skills that I am flexing here speak for themselves.
This work showcased here came from the very same class that I talked about above. Right now you're asking yourself why did he put two examples of this work in his showcase? Because at the time I was coaching college football when I took this course. I was working 60-plus hours a week. During the season we worked every day. I put a lot of time and pain into this class. In undergrad, I was a biology major and I never took a finance and or accounting course. Every free moment I had which was not much I poured into perfecting my skills in accounting, finance, and Excel. To me, this was like learning a different language. Once again I think you should click through this Excel document and see for yourself the hard work, plus the skills I am showing you here.
