Below is my annotated transcript of the Masters in Education (MAED) program at Michigan State University (MSU) focusing on Coaching and Leadership. Courses marked with the course code (ED) stand for Education, (KIN) for Kinesiology, (EAD) Educational Administration, and (CEP) Counseling Education Psychology.
Fall 2019:
ED 800 - Educational Inquiry -
Instructor ( Steven Weiland)
This class taught me about the foundations of education. I learned about the purposes of our educational system. I also learned about how the ways that we educate are attempting to be reformed, and the problems that go along with it. One of the best/coolest aspects of the course was diving into a little of the history of the ethnographic concepts of educational inquiry considered methodologically.
EAD 860 - Concepts of Learning Society -
Instructor ( Steven Weiland)
In this class, I learned about the global configuration of learning opportunities and possibilities. I learned that educational activities of all kinds can be learned in everyday situations, limiting the need for more formal educational settings. Along with this, we focused on how technology has an impact on learning in today's world. Today's leaders/educators must continue to grow in this realm to keep up with the challenges of mentoring, leading, and educating today's society.
Spring 2020:

Adult learning is a fascinating subject, that until recently I feel was not researched enough and studied. With how the world is evolving and changing we are seeing more and more adult learners. People are going back to school for higher education degrees or they have to go back because of their jobs. This being said adults do not learn the same as children or teenagers. This is why looking into how we, as adults learn, is vital to our economy as a whole and our own individual futures.
EAD 801 - Leadership and Organizational Development -
Instructor ( L. Dixon)
I learned about how to effectively be the leader of an organization. I was taught different leadership strategies and how to motivate my employees to perform at their best. Additionally, I learned about different professional development strategies to help improve the performance of your organization. This class was very beneficial for me and will help me as I look to continue to grow upon completion of my formal education.
Fall 2022:
KIN 857 - Promoting Positive Youth Development through Sports -
Instructor ( J. Roth)
I am learning about how sports are able to make a positive impact in the lives of our youth. This class taught me about how to use sports to teach kids skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. For our youth, sports should be used as a teaching mechanism, where winning is secondary to impacting the kids. I am learning different coaching techniques to help me be able to make this positive impact, these I have taken over into my current role.
Spring 2023:
KIN 868 - Skill Development in Athletes -
Instructor ( A. Driska)
This course explored skill development through the lens of the constraints model of motor learning and foregrounds constraints-led approaches as a means to comprehending, applying, and critically assessing the range of coaching techniques intended to develop athletic skill. It really had me think through coaching and skill development. Just because it's been done one way for a long time doesn't make it right!
EAD 876 - Budgeting and Finance in Higher Education -
Instructor ( Dongbin Kim)
In this class, I learned about the ways that colleges and universities are funded. I learned about how the government helps to fund these schools, as well as grants and loans from the government to students. I also learned about where the money from the government, as well as our tuition, is being spent. Additionally, I was taught about the reasons for the rising costs of higher education, and what we should do to combat these rising costs.
Summer 2023:
KIN 829 - Safety and Injury Control -
Instructor (J. Wallace)
In this course I learned about the health and safety of sports participants through a variety of platforms. Furthermore, this class promoted the understanding of sport-related injuries and the prevention, care, and management of injuries. Injuries are evaluated from many standpoints, including, growth-related factors, biomechanical factors, sex differences, sports differences, etc. In addition, this course showed me how to evaluate how ethical dilemmas relating to safety and injury may arise and how they may be resolved through the application of anatomical and moral knowledge.
Fall 2023:
CEP 802 - Developing Positive Attitudes Toward Learning -
Instructor ( E. Wong)
This course was concerned with a common explanation for why individuals sometimes have difficulty learning which is generally referred to as a “motivational problem”. A commonly held belief is that a problem with motivation is primarily one of “will” as opposed to one of “skill”: a person is viewed as having the ability to do something, but they just won’t do it. Rather than viewing motivation as a singular problem requiring a singular response, we looked into what drives people deeper.... what motivates them?

This class has helped me to put together everything I have learned over the course of my education. It has helped me to reflect on the classes I have taken and what I have learned. Additionally, it has helped me to aggregate all of my experiences into a website, marketing myself to future employers. It also gave me experience in website building, something that I have not had to do before.
