About the Black Reel Awards
Founded in 2000 by Tim Gordon and Sabrina McNeil. The Black Reel Awards were created to honor recognize the achievements of Black Filmmakers, Performers and Creatives who were ignored by mainstream awards.
With a resurgence in Black programming on the small screen, the Black Reel Awards for Television were formed in 2016 with the 1st annual awards taking place the following year.

The Black Reel Awards for Television honors the achievement in Programming, Performing, Directing, Writing and Music of the African-American and African Diaspora on the small screen.
