The Hive is a non-profit venture led by Co-op Academy Manchester. The academy is a secondary school with a vision for the whole of the Blackley community to be abuzz with opportunity.
The Hive was created by a strong partnership of organisations, including the academy’s sponsors The Co-op and also Manchester City Council, Northwards Housing and Yes Manchester. The Hive is run in accordance with the Co-operative Values and Principles. In particular, the academy and The Hive’s users believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
As Manchester excels in creative and digital industries, we are especially interested in speaking to those who could establish such a business in Blackley.

- Your own secure office pod with desk and chair (the building is alarmed and protected by CCTV)
- Plentiful on-site parking for you and business visitors
- Boardroom-style meeting space with large screen
- Access between 8am and 9pm Monday - Thursday and between 8am and 6pm on Friday (access outside these times is possible by arrangement)
- Access to shared amenities (toilets, kitchen)
- Business-grade Internet / Wi-fi access
- Telephone point
- Optional - we can supply you with a computer/Mac for an additional rental cost
- You will also have access to support services (telephone calls, photocopying, refreshments for meeting etc.)
All our pods are available from £140 per month including the cost of utilities and business rates. The largest pod could comfortably support a 2-person business. Please contact us to discuss your business or idea, as we may be able to be flexible or offer additional support to start-ups.

You will be a business literally on the doorstep for our school students. From time to time we may ask you to share your enthusiasm about your work, e.g. being interviewed for our newsletter by student journalists or even by talking to one of our classes.
