Blacklands Children's Activity Day

Project: I am hoping to have an activity day for the children of the Blacklands area. This would take place at the large grass area at Helen's Terrace. We would have bouncy castles and slides along with some football and badminton and kirby. We would also provide hot dogs , juice and snacks. This would all be supervised by parents in the area and all Blacklands children are welcome. Our children have missed out on so much during coronavirus and this is a great chance to improve and strengthen their confidence after being isolated from their friends for so long.

Random Acts of Kindness

Project: I set up random acts of kindness to help support the local community during lockdown. After a year of helping adults I would like to give the kids in my community a fun day whilst holding a pop-up shop for the adults. We want to raise awareness to the local community of our group and what we do. We will have a mascot there to help raise awareness whilst giving out goody bags and snack bags to all the kids that come along.

New Bench and Bin at the River Garnock

Project: There is a burnt-out bench at the River Garnock that I would like to replace and to add a bin. With more people walking and using the riverside it will help local people have a rest and bring people together. It will also help to keep the place tidier. They will be fitted by a local qualified tradesman who will donate time in kind.

Cranberry's Community Larder

Project: As a community Larder we are here to give a helping hand to people within the community of Kilwinning. We do this by offering membership to our larder, receiving up to the value of £20 worth of shopping.

We would be offering residents in the Blacklands area a free voucher to have a free shop if struggling and would work in partnership with the local primary and Nethermains Community Centre to allocate on a need basis over a period of 6 months.

Amount: £720

Let's Get Creative

Project: We have been asked to provide an Arts & Crafts club for both young people and adults in the community. We want to be able to offer this for free to all and provide a COVID safe space for people to relax, enjoy, socialise and create some magic using Arts & Crafts, we have amazing volunteers who wish to run this project and when we did our initial consultation we have received over 93 positive reactions within the first hour of the consultation going live. The Kilwinning Community Football Academy will donate the use of the hall to the group so as it allows us to invest in equipment and supplies to enhance the sessions and allow us to provide more activity opportunities to participate.

During the sessions, we will offer the chance to volunteers if they wish to support and look to see if we are able to establish any young leaders that would be willing to help support and work with younger members. The sessions will be free of charge reducing any financial barrier to participation.

Reconnecting with the Community

Project: Our project involves getting people back to going out and enjoying themselves again, which would include an afternoon of song and dance and buffet for the elderly in the Blacklands area. Also a disco for the not so elderly with a buffet. This would be a great opportunity to get people to resemble a kind of normalcy and get back to what we do best which is being a helpful community.
