Founded in 2022, Black History Tours Baltimore strives to offer the 1st company tours exclusively about Black History. Jae Jones decided to start black history tours Baltimore as a way to offer his vast body of knowledge about black history to the public. Jae has such a passion for history, as well as black present and black future, especially in relationship to the pivotal city of Baltimore. This tour company is readily expanding into more and more neighborhoods in order to tell a more complete narrative of the expansive, authentic and invigorating history of this pivotal US city. This company takes its role as a member of the larger community seriously by building community partnerships; including but not limited to bringing guests into bipoc owned establishments and meeting points.
Jae Jones has always been an avid consumer of both historical nonfiction and fiction, specifically black history. He has pursued reading through library visits and always enjoys digging into local archives to understand more. Black History has been his primary field of research for years. These tours provide the ideal opportunity to share his extensive body of knowledge. Jae has such passion for the history specific to the city of Baltimore and continues to explore it further. Social justice, black history and equity seem especially poignant in a city like Baltimore that is 60% African-American, yet still struggling to tell the real stories. Our guests will walk away with a new perspective on the black history, black present and black future. Jae hopes to impart to guests the importance of a well-rounded understanding of black history in our great nation.
