Event Details

Harlequins Orienteering Club's Night Street Event on Thursday 08 Feb 2018 in and around Blackheath Village between Halesowen and Rowley Regis.

Venue and Travel The Bell and Bear PH, 71 Gorsty Hill Road, B65 0HA - see map.

There is a car park in front of the pub, but it's not huge and we need to leave space for other customers. Please car-share or use public transport if practicable; trains between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stourbridge call at Rowley Regis and (closer but less frequent) Old Hill stations. Bus route 4 between Halesowen and Oldbury stops outside.

If driving from the south, avoid the usual queue on the A456 west from M5 J3 by taking the B4551 through Romsley.

Registration 6:00pm - 6:55pm. Mass Start at 7:00pm. Course closes at 8:15pm.

This is a 60 Minute Score Event. Visit as many controls as you can (or want to) in any order and get back to the Event Centre within 60 minutes. Controls are worth 10, 20 or 30 points - you lose 1 point for every 6 seconds over the time limit.

Start and finish will use SportIdent for timing, but the controls will require you to write something specific as proof of visit, so please bring a pen or pencil. SI-Cards may be hired for £1.00.

Fee £4 per map. Participants can run individually or as a pair/team. Under 16s can run if they are accompanied by an adult.

Safety Usual traffic hazards when crossing roads. Hi-vis or reflective clothing and a head torch or other illumination are required.

Terrain Mixed suburban area surrounding the small commercial centre of Blackheath Village. Coombeswood Green Wedge splits the southern half of the map. Some potential route choices involve unlit and/or muddy paths and steps.

Facilities Usual pub facilities (beer, toilets etc). Food served till 8:30pm, but if you're intending to eat after your run please order before the start to make things easier for the kitchen staff.
