An artistic incubator since 1986, Dixon Place is a Bessie and Obie Award-winning non-profit institution dedicated to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of theater, dance, music, puppetry, circus arts, literature and visual art. Presenting hundreds of creators each year, this local haven inspires and encourages diverse artists of all stripes and callings to take risks, generate new ideas and consummate new practices.
Dixon Place is committed to equity, inclusion, and undoing racism. Although our artists and audiences are currently spread across the country, our theater is located on land stolen from the Lenape people. And digital space is Native space – the ground holding the cable tower, the air holding the Wi-Fi signal – we are on indigenous land. We are grateful for Indigenous Nations ancestral stewardship of the place we call home.
