BBC is a unique A-frame cottage just a 5-minute walk from the Bhimtal Lake, up a small hill. One can relax on the very large open terrace or verandah, listening to the early morning sweet bird songs and enjoying the Bhimtal Lake view. The large estate grounds are good for small strolls with many viewpoints. Both floors are wheelchair friendly, accessed by gentle ramps. Your host has an art studio within premises for art lovers

The space
The space
This is the only A frame house in the region that can accommodate a big group of 15 people, unlike the smaller usual ones with 2 adults capacity. Enough free parking space is available which is also accessible to bigger vehicles like Tempo traveller.
Two and a half storey A-frame construction with very large terrace covering a similarly huge verandah.
Aesthetically well appointed cozy rooms.
The loft room and top floor 2 rooms are air-conditioned with a split AC to keep you comfortable. Top floor living space has a big air cooler which actually makes the air-conditioners redundant!
Ground floor rooms fortunately do not need AC as there is no direct sunlight hitting them, just fans suffice in the cool garden breeze.
IMP: We only have inverter power back up which can take only light loads, unlike a generator. Being a small town, sometimes power supply can be down from the grid and electric geysers will not run. In such case we do provide manual gas stove heating which can be inconvenient to some.
A perfect getaway for leisure as well as for work with high speed internet available.
The surrounding private land has bamboo groves and a large variety of hill trees. The flora attracts winged visitors like the whistling thrush commonly known as blackbirds, magpies, flycatchers, red head parrots and many more.
The night vista from the wide open terrace is a beautiful sight. Some nocturnal visitors are a couple of wild hares, the rare yellow throated martens, owls and some secretive predators(!!). All within the estate grounds !

Entire estate premises are at your disposal, with hosts residing in another house within premises.
Living spaces, dining area, kitchen, library, gardens, viewpoint sit outs are for common use to all guests.
Chargeable home cooked meals are available, vegetarian/ Jain meals only
Food reheating facility is provided using a microwave. A refrigerator is also available for guests' use.
The kitchen is equipped for self use with a gas kitchen range and necessary utensils. A daily charge applies for kitchen usage which is discounted only for longstays.
For minor special needs, host's kitchen is available without charge
All rooms are accessible by wheelchair

1. Any guests above 10 adults are charged extra. Kids below 6yrs exempt. Pets have separate charges
2. Cooking(gas) and kitchen facilities ONLY for longstays(7+days) at nominal charge. Short stay charges are higher.
3. Home cooked breakfast and/or meals available basis prior discussion with host. Only vegetarian or Jain fare available served at the host's dining area only, no room service.
4. Indoor Fireplace and/or outer firepit usage is chargeable.
5. Smoking permitted only in exterior spaces like verandah, terrace, garden so as to not inconvenience other guests

The homestay was beautiful, and the hosts, Vijay ji and Anu ji, were incredibly warm and hospitable. They also arranged for us to enjoy some amazing food.
If you're an art enthusiast, be sure to ask them to take you to Anu ji's art gallery. She is a remarkable artist. The homestay and their nearby home are also works of art, curated and designed by Anu ji herself.

Blackbird cottage is exceptionally beautiful place to stay during vacation. It is situated adjacent to the bhimtal lake and is very decent and attractive place to live in. The surroundings around the property is so lively and nature friendly. It completely felt like home. It is at the best location peaceful, calm and beautiful what we all desire. The rooms were classy and artistic paintings by Mrs.Anupama ma'am were so mesmerizing. Both Mr. And Mrs. Sharma were so sweet. In a nutshell I loved the place.

Vijay’s place is a walking distance from Bhimtal Lake and you get a clear view of the lake from the house. The property is well maintained and away from the noise of the town. It’s 200 meteres from the lake. Vijay was very helpful and proactive to help us reach the property and park our 17 seater tempo traveller. If you want your meals included, you’ll have to inform 4-5 hours prior to your arrival. Overall, it was a peaceful stay and my family enjoyed it.
Please note: Don’t go with the negative reviews. Vijay is a very polite person and always eager to help you. The property is worth the money.

Vijay and his wife are a great host, They cook some amazing food specially dry Spicy Aloo. They are very open and lovely people, They even allowed my mother to cook her own food as it was her fast.
Place is beautiful and loads of places where you can click your memories, We were a family of 10 along with my kids and everyone of us have enjoyed a lot. It is also pet friendly stay. He also gave us good recommendation for food and restaurant from where we can order food if required but the food they serve at the stay is superb. It is a huge property with a great view.
At the last, Thank you Vijay and family for making our stay wonderful. We will come back for more days in future.

It was an amazing property with a small garden and a charming cottage feel. Mr Vijay is genuinely helpful, going the extra mile to ensure your comfort and provide guidance on any services you might need. The interior of the property is vibrant and hotel-like. The hospitality of the hosts was exceptional, esp the lip-smacking fulfilling veg meals and breakfast. Living in a big A frame house was an experience in itself, it was exactly or even better than depicted in the pics. The early morning experience on the terrace with hundreds of different birds singing melodiously and the calm lake in front... shall treasure those moments always. Thanks, Anupama and Vijay for the lovely stay for our group. This time we were passing through but intend to return soon for a longer stay.

I had the most wonderful time staying at this place, the hosts were exceptional, and the greatest thing was that it felt like home with individualized care.
The food was amazing and irresistible 😀
The property has a fantastic view of the lake, and you can spend hours there with your loved ones and not realize how much time has passed.

Fabulous place, looks exactly like in the photographs with a direct view of the lake. The check in experience was lovely and the hosts Vijay and Anupama went out of the way to make us feel comfortable in so many ways. The A framed living space, the round deck viewpoint, the bamboo groves, candle lit dinners, all added up to a unique experience that will stay with us for a long time. Looking forward to revisiting the place with whole family very soon.
