Joshua Mollison (he/him) is a UMSI BSI senior from Brooklyn, New York studying UX Design. Throughout his time in SI, he was disappointed by the lack of Black students in his classes - the lack of community made it difficult to make SI friends from similar backgrounds as his own. In 2020, Josh became a student representative to the UMSI DEI committee where he advocates for the recruitment and retention of Black students. Here, he learned that the committee’s initiatives were fueled by a fire lit by Black@SI. In his current position now with Black@SI, he looks to continue advocating for the prioritization of racially equitable admissions while uniting the pre-existing Black BSI undergrad student body. You can catch him dissecting a good movie (anything from Spike Lee Joints to Star Wars) or watching sports (NBA, Premier League, Track & Field) in his free time.
